As far as I know, they might send that letter just before your number becomes current on the visa bulletin.. But just in case, you might want to confirm it with them...

I had the same issue and I got a letter asking me to bring the orginal or a "copy" of my receipt. However, when I went there for the second time, they found my reciept in my application.. I am not familiar how H1B visas are handled but I have heard people coming across the same issue that you have.. I don't think you should worry about it, it might take a while. However, If you have an urgency, you can make an appointment with USCIS through infopass and let them know your issue...

If you have a mail issue, then I would recommend contacting KCC by phone to see if they mailed it out or not around the time you think you'll receive your package..They should be able to let you know on that.. Good Luck!

Bahar, As far as I know, when you arrive US, you should apply for Social Security #. When you move to US, just go to the nearest Social Sec. Department. It shouldn't be too complicated. You might have to fill out few forms that they hand you there to request a #.
