You can legally demand your receipt
You can definitely demand to get your i-485 receipt. You do not necessarily have to carry it always with you. But that piece of paper is your proof for AOS (Adjustment of Status).
i-485 has got nothing to do here...
There is no relationship with i-485 receipt and finding a new job. Your EAD may help here but not the i-485 receipt.
i-485 receipt is to justify your immigration status of "Adjustment of Status" while EAD is the employment authorization document...
It means...
... INS will reject your application unless you provide them evidence to defend yourself of the situation that resulted them to take the decision. The reason for "intent to deny" will be clearly marked on the form. Typically, INS gives you some time to respond to their...
Listed on your i485 receipt..
You can find the notice date on the i-485 receipt. ND can never be prior to the RD. It needs to be reported to INS if there is a misprinting. Often times, however, it is the applicant\'s mistake in interpreting the ND\'s and RD\'s.
No forms required...
You do not need to fill out any form. Just call VSC and seek for an iio. You can verbally the new address. I did it myself after my i-485 stamping was done.
Should not be a problem....
I know of several people who have done it before. However, there are a couple of things you need to do -
1. Check the AVM whether your card has already been ordered. Unfortunately, if it is already ordered then a new card will have to be ordered because you cannot...
No Title
Yes, you can still file but it will be considered as separate application and will take it\'s own course for adjudication --> usually, several years. The application will be categorized as \'Second - A\' preference application for \'Family based visa\'. Currently, for Indian...
Amended i-485 required...
Yes, you sure can. You need to file an amended i-485 for the spouce provided the i-485 application is not approved yet. If it is already approved then it requires a new application and is not considered a straight derivative rather a sponsored case.
Don\'t mention about company A
Don\'t mention about company A. Just the approval of H1 request does not change the status. Only after the benificiery joins the company and gets into the payroll, does he/she attains the status.
Not a problem
That is not a problem at all. As a matter of fact my wife was out of the country when her i-485 got approved. She entered US (via SFO) a week after her approval. There was absolutely no problem. The immigration officer did ask her about green card and she responded saying...
No pattern at all...
While Virochan\'s case took less than 10 days, mine had been assigned to an officer for months (since March, 2001). First there was an RFE issued in April 9. INS received the response to the RFE on May 3rd and after that took another 3 months and 7 days to finally approve...

Though it is not a problem, but you can have your i-797 rectified by filing for the correction. I had a similar problem when my name was miss-spelled in my H1-extension (about 3 years ago).
No Title
There is a form you can either download from the INS website or get from the law offices of your attorney. The form along with a copy of the i-797 form should be filed with the INS.
If you used an attorney to get your H1 extension, they will do that for you free of cost.
New York Office Phone is..
Fragomen\'s New York office\'s phone number is 212-688-8555. The website is http://www.fragomen.com.
You can, however, call one of their Senior Paralegals, Jodi M. Sandler directly at 212-891-7507. Her email address is jsandler@fragomen.com. I had been interacting...
Try Fragomen...
Try "Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Lowey, P.C.". They are very good but usually take only corporate cases. You may give them a call and check if they can take your case. The head office is in New York (Madison).
