Does anybody know what process a GC holder (GC based on Asylum status) goes through after marrying a citizen? I was wondering if I will be able to change my GC from asylum based to marriage based so I can travel back COP with my husband when ever I want to. Anything I need to be aware of before...
Same experience here. Entered at LAX on Friday without any problems. I was asked where I went to and what for. I said I visited my family, and then officer stamped my passport and welcomed.
My gc was approved on 23rd pf July and I received it on Monday, 30th. It took exactly a week to receive it in the mail. I just wanted to give you guys an update so you know that usually it does not take too long to receive it after approval.
Thank you guys! :) Now I don't have to break my head how to get a visa to Russia - I can go and come back with my NP and green card. GC makes travel experience much easier and less expensive.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting for GC- you will get it!
I completely agree with you! I was ready to pay extra $300-400 to expedite it but there was no way to do it. I ended up paying $400 to reschedule my flight because the RTD did not arrive when I was expecting it to arrive.
If you have not filed the I-131 yet I would include a letter to the USCIS IO asking to expedite the process and give them a good reason why.
If you already have filed the I-131 then you can ask your senator to help you to expedite the process. And yes, you need to wait for the receipt since...
Also, I suggest you to provide your senator with the copy front and back of your I-94 card and a copy of the letter that you we granted the asylum status. USCIS asked me to send it to them after a senator's office asked to expedite my RTD.
I was asked to send evidence for the RTD and I did that the next day after I received the request. Do you know if I am suppose to receive a notification that they have received it? I don't see any update in my portfolio online and it has been almost 2.5 weeks now.
There are 2 reasons why I am asking.
1. My friend traveled with NP and came back with RTD.
2. A woman from a congressman's office who is trying to help me to expedite the RTD said that she thinks I can schedule an appointment with the local USCIS office and ask them to stamp my passport to...
Did anybody leave the country with the NP, and came back with the RTD? Is it ok to do that? I am not going back to the COP, I want to go on vacation. I don't have my GC yet.
