Should medical exam be done before or after 485 filing?

No Title I feel like such an idiot. After posting the above message, I went back and checked. I stand corrected. We did our medical exam and enclosed the results WITH the 485 application. Sorry if I misled anyone. Amar

Should medical exam be done before or after 485 filing?

No Title Just curious. You say "The I485 form says "wait for INS instructions for medical exam" ", then why don\'t you wait for the INS instructions? My experience was that after filing I485, we waited till we received the INS instructions regarding the medical exam. And...

    Long name

No Title I don\'t think you need to worry about that. My wife has the same kind of a problem with her name. In most computer generated documents, her name is truncated (in her case it is only the last one letter and not 4 like you). But it has never been a problem for her. And she got her...

Can someone change career after GC?

No Title Q1. You can do any darn thing you want. You can get your GC as a rocket scientist and then go and flip burgers at your local McD. No one will care. Q2. There dosen\'t seem to be a set rule. But people in the know say that you should stay at least 6 months. Q3. I don\'t see any...

Does anybody have idea about Passport validity during the approval period??

No Title I was told that your passport should be valid for at least 6 months when you go for your passport stamping after your 485 is approved. Why don\'t you get it renewed? It should not take long. And if you go personally to the Consulate, you can get it renewed the same day.

    Travelling after stamping

No Title I am surprised they forgot to take your I94s. Stamp in passport is good enough for travel. However, you should receive your plastic cards any day now. So, why not wait a little longer and travel with your card?

Gurus......... Need your help regarding DOB certificate.

No Title Both my wife and I had the same problem. So we got affidavits from close relatives and NOT parents -- in my wife\'s case it was her grand-father and a maternal uncle. In my case, it was two of my cousins (who are old enough to vouch for my birth). And just for the heck of it, I had...

    Emergency AP

No Title This happened to me last year. I was waiting for my 485 to be approved when my brother-in-law died in India. I wanted to go home in a rush and be with my sister. I went to the local INS office in Philadelphia and applied for an emergency AP. I was rejected because a brother-in-law is...

10 questions on GC - Experienced folks please give your input.

No Title 1. When you go to get your passport stamped, you will have to give 2 photographs and your fingerprint both of which will be used on the actual card. I don\'t think there is any other procedure by which you can get them that stuff. So, you will have to go to get your passport stamped...
