Waiting Asylum decision

I saw messages when some people filed FOIA, but I didn't understand whether they filed it while waiting for a decision after the interview or in different cases.
pls friends share when and why you filed FOIA.

Also, I saw this Outside Normal Processing time request on USCIS website (not allowing me to pt link here) - Has anybody tried to submit this request? If yes please share your experience. Thanks!

I filed FOIA after 4 months of waiting for decision after the interview. Received all documents that USCIS has on file for me after about 40 days.
The only benefit I saw from this is you get a record of your interview with all question & answers. Might be useful if you get referred to the court (god forbid). Some documents will come redacted or wiped out so you won't have the whole file.

Sent "outside of normal processing time request" after 5 months of waiting. Received a formal standard response a month after that, stating that I have to wait and case is under officer's review.

Both requests are crucial for Mandamus so it's part of the process for me. Didn't expect much from them both.

Hello
I applied for asylum on 2015 at Newark's office
Interview was on 9/1/2021
today status changed to "new card is being produced"
Is that an approval or something else?

I believe it is. Did you get "fees are waived" before that?
Congratulations.
3 years waiting for decision omfg.
Doesn't give me much hope with my wait from Newark Office.

No that's why I'm confused, previous posts says you should get "fees are waived" before and I didn't! but also if it's denied what kind of card I'm getting!!!

It's should be new EAD with your new immigrant category. I can't think of anything else. Unless you applied for EAD renewal recently and there was some mix up.
Also, check app as suggested before.

thank you guys I hope it's an approval! the app just saying status changed from application is pending to card is being produced so nothing new

Congrats! I would say there's a 99% chance it is approval. More than 3 years waiting for a decision is just INSANE. But go celebrate now!

Can we apply for FOIA before & after interview too? Is there any use at before stage?
Any fee for FOIA? Is it entirely online?
It includes docs related to Asylum case only or it includes docs related to any previous case too w/ USCIS?

Free.
Online.
All docs.
You can apply as many times as you want.

All above is my understanding, please research and confirm for yourself.

I had mine on 10/2/24 (Newark's Manhattan branch). It involved 6 hours in the office and 5.5 hours of interviewing.
I waited for my interview for 9 years and 4 months.... which was scheduled within a month after my attorney requested to be added to the short-notice list.

All dependents are required to be present. Dependents are only invited at the end of the interview for some security questions.

Today is 3 months and 3 days since the interview, but still "decision is pending".

Did anybody have an interview in the Newark/Manhattan office? if yes, what are your timelines?
If both parents filed separately, Can Dependents be included in both applications?
