Thank you everyone, I have learnt alot from all of you.
And I will be available around this forum for who ever needed information related to my case.

Don't give up, and please keep praying, May God bless you all.
Congratulations

Seems to me that these are tough times to be waiting for asylum decisions. Praying for everyone to hang in there, and hopefully, things will get better. Here are some concerning articles I have come across:

1. 15April25: https://www.publicradiotulsa.org/np...sylum-cases-without-court-hearings?_amp=true/ - Seems the asylum cases in the courts, some will be dismissed/closed/denied without merits hearings. Immigration judges are not 'judges', since they are employees of Justice Department, and, the follow policy set by DOJ.
2. 7April: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/07/trump-student-visas-deportation - They are revoking F1 student visas over minor traffic violations. For us asylees, means we have to be careful too, extra careful during this period because any violation of any kind, will be used to deny relief. Most people already knew this, but its just a reminder, keep your head down, do not commit any legal violations, until your citizenship is granted.

These are tough times. Like me in my old asylum process days, I am sure sometimes you don't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy, after all the waiting, the trauma of uncertainty, being stateless, cut off from family and friends in the country of origin? But, in the end, I want you guys to know that, these tough times, are only a passing thing, this darkness, it will end. Good luck.

I applied for the interview in December 2018 at ST. Louis, MO (Chicago AO).
Had my interview 02/13/25. Since that status, decision is pending.
It's been almost 2 months with no updates. How long typically to wait for a decision from Chicago AO?
I had it in September 2024. Still waiting. Applied in April 2016 :)

Did you finally received the approval? If yes, how long after the interview?

I was supposed to pick up my decision at Newark Asylum Office on March 19th but 2 days before that date, the officer called me and mentioned my decision is gonna be mailed to me. No update since then. Status is still “Application is pending”.
Unfortunately, not yet

I had my asylum interview January 2025 and in Saint Paul MN (Chicago AO) and still waiting decision, applied 2022
Have u ever sent a follow up letter to Chicago AO? I send my folow-up letter last week, since it already 2 month from my interview and still no desision. The waiting is so stressfull.

Hi, just want to help you with this, since my attorney giving exact the same answer to me, but what I did, I emailed the Asylum office processing my case once every two weeks, you can do email follow up for chicago asylum office here, CHICAGO.ASYLUM@USCIS.DHS.GOV

After diligently doing that for the past 5 months finally I got an answer.
Dont forget to mention all detail regarding your asylum case on you email, with subject line 'Asylum Case Decision'

Hope this help and good luck

As far as I know, Chicago AO does not send case information via email; I normally send them paper letters. Has anyone heard anything from Chicago AO?
