Update on USCIS website

uscis updates

I think they have stopped giving updates. Anyway they were of not much use and made us wait for them all the time.

Almost a month since the last update!! Wha't going on? Are they sleeping? Or did the Christmas holidays start already?

The best theory that I've heard is that the delay (and maybe even the previous fast update in just 8 days) is due to the end of the fiscal year.

In the meantime, I think the analysis that nemessis did (http://boards.immigration.com/showthread.php?t=125115&page=2&pp=15) is probably more useful than the VSC dates will ever be (apart from letting you initiate inquiries...).

latest update from VSC

(Update #1: the VSC now appears to have reverted back to the 08/18/04 update so might want to disregard this message for now...)

(Update #2: looks like the update is on again...)

See attached file for details.

I-765 (AOS) 08/30/04 +15 days
I-131 (AP) 08/30/04 +15 days
I-140 (EB2 excep. ability) 11/20/03 +0 days
I-140 (EB2 excep. ability NIW) 10/02/02 -173 days
I-140 (EB3 skilled worker) 04/01/04 +0 days
I-485 09/07/02 +12 days

Since it took 30 days for this update, the backlog in every case increased by 15-30 days except for I-140 EB2 (NIW) which apparently *lost* 173 days since the last update...

after taking 30 days to put the processing dates, they practically just cut and pasted the old dates without much difference.

what the...?

The update that some of us saw earlier now appears to have been reverted to 08/18/04 (all the old dates are back). It was definitely showing an update for 09/17/04 earlier (with the dates shown in the .xls that I posted).

Stay tuned...

I-140 @ Vermont Service Center

Hi,

Any update on processing times @ vermont? The last update was on Aug-18-2004.

I have been eagerly awaiting my 140 approval, which was filed on May-14-2004. The current processing date is Apr-01-2004 (Last updated on Aug-18-04).

Any news/update is thoroughly appreciated.

Thanks,

SSV3273 :)

Sept 17, 10:12pm

The dates on the WEB site are back showing Sept 17 as last report ... I am wondering if there is somebody at VSC working late playing with their computers :D :D :D

Ya, that was odd.

The update is back as it was earlier today (the same changes to the dates). See spreadsheet attached above for details but obviously a big slow down for these dates (although, nobody is too sure how useful they are apart from enabling inquiries if your ND predates the current date).

It does seem that there is lots of activity for October/November 2002 cases and another wave around April/May (or even later if you look at the scans that nemessis is doing in the I-485 tracker forum).

few more theories for slow down

Sitting in my office and scratching my head, thinking what might be the reason for slow down of the processing. Here is my opinion

1.Election year, Govt.(USCIS ) busy in getting the citizenship approved for people.Hear that if you apply for citizenship in election year, chances are you get it very quickly. So may be lot of people working on citizenship application.

2.financial year end on Sep30th,2004(busy with Admin works , budget etc...)I mentioned this at some other place.

3.Again year end, Federal Govt. employee have annual leaves and don't get overtime (they get comp. time), and they have to take these annual leaves and comp. time before sep 30th, otherwise will not get anything after sep 30th.
So lot of Fed. Employees(not contractors) might be on leave in Aug. and Sep.

Anyway I can't think of anything else.....

So nice to see 485 move 52 days in 2 weeks.

Keep going VSC.

Additional budget for backlog reduction seems to be working.

CSC has moved faster because they have much less 485 applications. Look at their Labor Cert processing. There are people waiting for more than 2 years now in non-RIR.

But anyway, it is nice to see dates moving in various centers.

Now that lots of labors are getting approved in california, does it imply that 485 will slow down in california? It has been moving at an unimaginable speed of its own.

Can we send email to Ombudsman /someother INS official to request CSC to share the load of the other 3 centers?

Maybe, this discrepency in speed is a USCIS ploy to break the "class" in the case against INS

Anxious, any Oct 02 I-140 still pending?

Dear Friends,
My Oct 02 I-140 (EB1-OR) is still pending. I filed I-485 in Dec 2003, no fingerprint notice , no updates since Dec 2003. I feel so desperate.
My employer is going to send an inquiry letter. Should I directly request the local congressman or senator for help now or I have to wait until we get no response from the inquiry? since, I-140 is an employer-based petition.
Thanks for your advice.
