Update on USCIS website

Did you notice the H1 B dates? It has moved from Aug 28 to June 01 2004 for specialty occupation, extension of stay. I have applied for H1 transfer on Jul 01 2004.
Trust USCIS!!!

These dates are so confusing, that necessisates a petition to senators and congressmen drawing their attention to inconsistencies at VSC.

more stats fun...

Updated VSCUpdates.xls sheet with a couple new columns to show the current backlog and the change in the backlog since 3/3/4 (which is when I started tracking the processing dates).

3rd column is the latest change in the processing date (days)
4th column is the backlog (days)
5th column is the change in the backlog since 3/3/4 (days)

Here are the latest "stats":

Update 08/18/04

I-765 (AOS) 08/15/04 45 3 -126
I-131 (AP) 08/15/04 67 3 -197
I-140 (EB2 excep. ability) 11/20/03 0 272 -516
I-140 (EB2 excep. ability NIW) 03/24/03 0 513 -275

Nice work!

updated spreadsheet

There was a bug in the spreadsheet that I posted earlier. It was using TODAY() to calculate the latest backlog / change in backlog since 3/3/4 instead of the date on which the update was made. I fixed that above and if anyone has a local copy of VSCUpdates.xls, they should replace it with the one above.

This makes the reduction in backlog a lot less dramatic in some cases, e.g for I-485 cases, I believe the old # was roughly -210 days but it should be -40 days...

Looks like it has been ages since we saw any updates!

It's been 20 days. A bit longer than the average over the last 6 months or so (15.6 days) but the last update came in 8 days so maybe this one will take longer. That said, if they wait 1 more day, then this will be the longest delay between updates since I started tracking these around the start of the year.

Maybe we'll get an update soon now that the Labor Day holiday is out of the way...

I can very well understand your frustration.....

But that will atleast give ppl an oppurtunity to raise enquiries (if they mean anything lately) when their dates pass by.

What is the significance of the updates of these dates?

Not all that significant -- IMO the info in the various trackers that people on these forums generate is a lot more useful.

Still, it's nice to see progress and these dates determine whether or not you are allowed to file an inquiry into your case (once they are 30 - 60 days or so past your ND).

Its unclear exactly how to interpret the USCIS dates anyway since we often know of many people who have yet to be processed whose ND's are earlier than the published processing date.

looks like they are going to create a new record for the update time. It going to be 3+ weeks now and no update.

Only the company lawyers can make enquiries not the employees.

That's definitely true for the I-140 stage but afaik, you can inquire about the status of an I-485 case yourself.

Yup, as of Monday it will be 26 days and counting (although there was one holiday in there).

End of Year for Federal Govt.

It's the end of year for Federal departments(30th Sep), there are several other tasks employees and managers are busy with, especially budget planning for next year, work agreement between different departments, etc.
This may be the reason of slow down in publishing the dates and also these dates will be the last for the this year(1st Oct 2003- 30th Sep,2004).
