Transferred to Local INS office in Washington -Aug 15th RD

Need advice

VSC transferred my self and my family I-485 files to Atlanta on 09/27/2004 but I lived in Washington DC from past 5 years and I never lived in Atlanta. I don't know why they transferred to Atlanta. Me and my attorney tried many ways to get files over here like sending fax letters, Expedite requests and letters in mail but no use. Still my files are sitting in Atlanta. We went DC office to make a request file transfer from ATL to WAS even I want today with family they are saying that files are in Atlanta we can not do anything until we receive files. I don't know what should I do? could you please give some idea how to proceed to get files or else should I go Atlanta for interview .I don't know how long it will take. Please advice me

Here is my story after file transfer: I went DC office a month back to check file status, they made a file transfer request on my file but they did not make request on my wife and daughter because that time they are not present. Again today I went to DC office they gave three tickets one for me, one for my wife and one for my daughter. We went two different officers and we got two different answerers. My wife went to first officer he was told file is in Atlanta it may come any time but mean time you should finish finger print and he put request on my wife file transfer. My daughter & me went to second office he was told us your files are in Atlanta under investigation and he was told other officer (they are side by side cubes) don’t do anything and he took back my finger print notice ,which she got from first officer. I was asked officer why don’t you put a request on my wife and daughter files but he said it is not required because all files are together since you are the primary applicant one request is enough. Just few mints back I called VSC and spoke with immigration office( not representative) and I was told all my story he was very nice guy he told me files are in Atlanta but there is request on your file but not on your family files and he suggested send expedite request to Atlanta office ,which I already did two times

Case Transfer Questions

Here's what you asked for:
Emily Evans Gaitonde
Immigration Specialist
Northern Virginia Office of Senator George Allen
2214 Rock Hill Road, Suite 100
Herndon, Virginia 20170
(703) 435-0039 (voice)
(703) 435-3446 (fax)

I would advice you to wait for a month(atleast) after you get the notice in mail. Usually it so happens that USCIS mails the notice out but the files aren't physically transferred to local office.

If the case has been recently transferred, the Senator's office won't be of much help. Thats my 2c.

Thanks for the information, H1Blayoff. We haven't received any notice stating that the case has been transfered. I was told about this when I called INS. Is there a notice that is sent that you are suggesting I wait for? We had a fingeprinting done in Sept but that notice didn't say anything else. What if I just schedule an appointment with the Arlington office for an inquiry? I have heard that they sometimes stamp the PP for GC when people show up like and they have the case transfered in that office. Has anyone experienced this?

I am just getting impatient because 485s of many people I know have been approved who filed many months after I did (They work for the same company as I do and sit next to me!).

Wonderfulboy,

My case is probably different from yours. My husband is still in school for his Ph.D, so we have to be separated. That is, we are not sharing the residence. But we have shared bank account. And we married a long time ago. Anyway, we are going to bring anything that have both of our names on that and photos.

Congrats adnamj .. merry x'mas & best wishes. Enjoy your freedom.
I know you from the offer you gave for the infopass appt.

h1Blayoff, when is your TD ?

mkris99, We are in kind of similar situation as you,
It is my wife's case which is in DC whereas now we are in Texas.
Though the difference is we lived in DC when her case was transferred.
You can see the details on our case on page 60 or 61 of this thread.
In your case, have you tried to contact the office of Senator Allen.
Since you live in that area, they could possibly help you ?

anybody who got transferred more than a year ago???? or am I the only one who are lost in space???

Transfer of Case to DC office

Hello,

I received a note that my case has been transferred to the local office in dc last September 2004. I just did my second fingerprinting early December? Is it possible to not get an interview even though my case got transferred? Second, what kind of documents do I need for the interview. My case is an employment based i-485. Can you please help me by providing me information about this? When do you think I will get my interview? How long does it takes?

Thanks

Writing Letter to Senator George Allen

Hi,

I read on the thread that some of you wrote a letter to Senator Allen about your case. Can you please teach me how should I write the letter? I already got my second fingerprinting and its an employee base i485 got transferred to the DC office in arlington. My receipt date for my whole application was September 2002.

Thanks
Jigjag

Adnamj - Really you deserve for this vacation. Forget about everything and enjoy your trip and stay with your family members. Say congrats to them from our side for your GC... All I can say wish you a very happy new year and safe journey.

Happy new year to all.

Thanks

FingerPrint and Employee Based Case transfer to local office

Fingerprint question.

I was supposed to get my second fingerprint done last September which I missed. So last 1st week of December I had my second fingerprinting done. My I-485 employee based application receipt date was Sept 2002. Is my application delayed because I missed the second fingerprinting original schedule? When do you think I will get an interview in Arlington, since my case got transferred to the local office.

Thanks,
Jigjag

What a good xmas gift!

Transferred in June 04. Checked my mailbox last night and found a thick envelope from the USCIS containing fingerprinting information which must be redone asap and an interview date in the second week of January. I really hope that this will be the end of this journey for me. Will post the outcome of the interview (as long as it is positive) at a later date. Hang in there guys, it seems like they have finally woken up. Another co-worker got an interview schedueld in Jan too. Happy Holidays!

Need some advice. I have scheduled an appointment (9.20 am tomorrow)with the local office to enquire abt my case. How early should I be there and how much time does it take to get out of thier office.

Any info will be appreciated.

Is it true that you shouldn't change your job for 6 months after you get your greencard? And if yes, why is that???
Thanks!
