Is it true that you shouldn't change your job for 6 months after you get your greencard? And if yes, why is that???
Thanks!

I read somewhere on Murthy.com that job change won't hinder your greencard but will certainly hinder when you apply for Citizenship

Save_intvu,
You meant to say, I should be there 15 min prior to my appointment time right?

Could some one tell me about informing the local office(arlington office) about change of job. Should one wait for the interview to tell them that you have changed jobs or you have to tell them right away. Hopefully somebody can shed some light on this subject. This info is for a friend.

I had been to the local office. Went there around 9:10 am. My number got called around 10:30 am. Asked the officer the status on my case. He said "Expect the interview to be scheduled in February/March". I tried to ask him abt FBI Name check & fingerprinting but he didn't seem to respond and asked me to wait till my interview is scheduled.

Now guys, should I beleive the time frame given by the officer. If I had been to some other officer would the answer be the same as this officer gave me?

Any info?

Officer B

Has anyone had an interview conducted by officer B in the new local office in Fairfax? If so, can you please post your interview experience/opinion of this officer? Thanks.

They recieved my EAD renewal check ( third one) on 12/27/04 and as of today they didn't cash it. Does that mean good news?

Interviewd 10\20\04
pending name check

Not to give you high hopes. I had visited the local office and most of thier staff was on vacation. That might be one of the reasons they haven't cashed the cheque. Wait till the end of this week and you'll know for sure if they have good news for you.

Did you happen to visit thier office lately? I would recommend you to go there and talk to the officer. Sometimes it does help to open up a channel that leads to approval.

All the best

All set for interview going to be held tomorrow

Hi Friends,

I think i am in the verge of completing my journey. But my wife's interview is rescheduled as attorney drafted a letter and i posted it to local office. Hope we will be completing the 1st half of the show by end of tomorrow.

I have interview with Officer G in Local Office located in Fairfax tomorrow @ 10:45am.

I have arranged all the necessary documentation to my knowledge both original and copies as sepeate files.

Let's see what will be the outcome.

Though i am taking the attorney (Mr. Rajiv S. Khanna) along with me for interview. I took his contact details and said will be contacting him if at all i need help. He said kindly accepted my request. So great of him.

Especially in this forum people are very knowledgable, very helpful.

I will be sharing all the information i know of even after obtaining the GC hopefully by tomorrow.

I hope the contact of Emily Evans Immigration Specialist for George Allen's Office is helping out most of you guys on case by case basis.

That's the only thing i did to get my interview get scheduled surprisingly in 3 1/2 months time after it got transferred.

Though i took an infopass appointment and met the officer to get the status of my interview it didn't really help. They said 4-6 months from the date of transfer (i.e. 23rd September 2004). They are not bad in giving the date. It worked in that way.

So guys who are all waiting for the interview be positive and in high spirits. I know the pain in waiting because i am in the same situation as of now.

New Year Wishes for you all.

Happy New Year to all..

Congrats!!!!!!! to all who got an interview letters. Best of luck wonderfulboy for your interview....

Best of luck to all our friends who are still waiting for thier turn to come..

Thanks

Wonderfulboy,
Good luck and God bless...!!!
Share the Great News in the evening [or when you find time...]

Good luck to all others in the line..... [Me, as well]. Hope 2005 is the harbinger of happy news.

Cheers!!!
V!

Thank you for your input.
even if I go to their office, don't you think the officer will tell me that its in FBI process.
Any way I will take infopass appointment.

After GC approval - Working with Sponsoring Employer

Hi Friends

I feel all of you very knowledgable and can help me in this clarification

Assuming that i got my Permanent Residency approved tomorrow and later sometime for my wife too (her interview is rescheduled because she is out of country - assume after 1 month from now).

I am planning to join Sponsoring Company in next 2 weeks time. Mine is a future employment case. I am currently not working with sponsoring employer. We agreed upon verbally that after getting GC approval i will work with them for couple of months.

I heard in some forums and through friends that it should be fine if i can work for 2-3 months with sponsoring company to cover the problems in future Naturalization.

When leaving the sponsoring company what kind of letter/documentation do i need to take from them? What kind of procedures do i need to follow?

Actually some people are saying when we go to naturalization interview after 5 years they see whether you are job status most/all the time, filed
taxes properly, no issues related to crime etc but not exactly whether you worked with the sponsoring employer or not if yes how long exactly?

Because i would prefer change the sponsoring employer after some reasonable amount of time i.e. 2-3 months upon approval (condition that if there is no problem only).

What if exceptionally sponsoring employer raises an issue for me to leave them?

I have friends who got GC in October and changed the employer in December.

But i hear so many rumours around this. I need clarification.

Kindly do respond.

Wonderfulboy,

I have same concerns and issues as you. I've been wanting to change my job right after I get my GC, but many says that it will hinder when I apply for citizenship in 5 years later. They recommend me to stay at least 6 months, but I would really like to clairfy on this matter. I asked my attorney, and she says it's not true.....
Any credential information would be very appreciative.

And by the way, are you bringing all your school transcripts and I-20s if you have attended school here in US?

Hi Cmyk55,

I didn't catch ur response correctly. When you asked about this to your attorney she said thats not true? What is not true? Does she said there is no problem u can change the employer or u cannot change employer before 6 months? Even after 6 months how should you handle it? What kind of reason and documentation/proof u need to take from the sponsoring employer do we need to take?

Also after that do we still need to stick on with exact same kind of job or will it be ok if we change the responsibilities little bit?

I am also finding the response. I posted the question to Rajiv. S. Khanna and waiting for response.

Hi Cmky55,

No i didnt attend school here at all. i did my masters back in my home country. I dont see any requirement for me to take the educational documentation.

But to be safe i will carry for tomorrow's interview if at all they need it.

Wonderfulboy,

I just asked my attorney that if I can change my job right after I get my GC, not after 6 month and she said I can do whatever I want to....she didn't even mention if I have to change to same type of job or anything. I'll do more research on this and ask more people and let you know.
And if you didn't attend school here, I don't think you need to bring any school documents....but for the safe side, why not...
Best wishes to you!

I know the officer is going to look at the status and say the same "Still stuck with the FBI". But you never know till you take a chance. May be that will change your luck.

I would recommend you to take an INFOPASS appt and visit them.

Post your comments after you visit.

Hi Cmky55,

That's what i heard from some people. There are no hard and fast rules that we need to work with sponsoring employer with this much period of time.

I think we need to find from some source what kind of info. do they ask in citizenship interview? Will they look for how long we worked with Sponsoring Employer during the time of interview or not? If not why are people bothering to work for atleast 6 months atleast etc?

Ask all these questions to your lawyer.

Where else do you think we can get solid information from?

From my side i am waiting from Rajiv Khanna (My attorney for GC - Owner of this site).
