Transferred to Local INS office in Washington -Aug 15th RD

Help--EAD and other questions

According to the USCIS online status, my I485 case was transferred to Washington DC as of Oct. 29, but my wife and son was not. Is it common? Or they simply do not update for my wife and son's case? Is there any way to check if our documents are in Washington DC local office?
My last question is that "what if I get a job outside VA?" Now I am on H1 visa. Where do I get my EAD card? Please answer my questions if anybody has similar experience. Thanks,

How to check the status at the local office?

Since our cases have been transferred to local DC office, will the "USCIS Case Status Web site" https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/login.jsp still be updated to reflect our case status at the local office? If not is there any way that we can track our cases like when it is recd by the local office, when the invw letter is issued etc etc.

hi ironklad,momoea

There is no tracking system or online case status check or customer service phone number for cases that are transferred to local office. The only way you can get the status is to take infopass appointment for local arlington office and choose the option "take to immigration officer" and ask the status about your case. The difficulty here is it's very difficult to get the infopass appointment and other point is even if you take infopass appoitnment and ask all the questions to the immigration officer (i don't know whether they are really officers for me they look to be very dumb) you don't really exact information how soon will they schedule the interview and other information etc.

Cases transferred to local office are not really exciting. Its a pain to wait without knowing what's happening with the case.

Thanks Wonderfulboy for all your adviceses and suggestions..

Hi Wonderfulboy,
As you mentioned, my EAD renewal application has been moved local DC office(11/11) following to my I-485(10/28).
It menas, i can go any time to collect my EAD renewal or i have to go only for Interim EAD though it is Renewal application.
These EAD/I485 processing dates (as per web-site) will be appllied to our tranfered cases too...

Please advice..
Thanks..

Ap

I heard that you can't come back to the States even with AP once you had record of out of status in the past. Can anyone confirm if this is true? It's a long story, but I was documented as out of status for certain period, and I paid $1000.00 fine for that.
Is there anybody who has same situation??

Thanks in advance

No updates on interviews yet. Atleast I haven't got anything in the mail. Still waiting to hear from Emily (Sen. George Allen's office ) and Miss. Edwards (Sen John Warner's office).

Will update as soon as I hear something. Any update on the Arlington move?

All:

Do you know how I can apply AP from DC local office, I plan a trip in Feb 2005?

I tried stupid infopass...it sucks, other options (mailin Walk in)

Many thanks

MY wife got stamped today

She went to Arlington office 9 am using infopass to stamp her passport. Approval date was 10/20/04. She went 9am and returned home 3pm. She said they gave her hard time especially that big fat stupid lady that she was yelling and her complaining about her approval letter!!!. The stamp on the passport said temporary proof of permanent residence until 11/2005. They didn't tell her about the actual card. I am afraid if I go there for my stamping, might lose my temper and kick that bitch in the ass.

I am still waiting for the fucking name check.

It's amazing that these people are actually good at one thing....
Everytime I send them any type of applications, I-485, EAD, etc. etc., they claim the check I send almost same day they receive it. May be next day in extreme case. Isn't is funny? They actually have time to flip through the papers and dig up the check in split second, but it actully takes years to read them?
Unbelievable.....

congrat wellwisher!

glad to hear that u got interview letter , i m sure u will get stamp same day . bring as much documents as u can. i wasnt in touch my lawyers too , thsi whole process drag me a long way where i barely pay my lawyers for stupid things , last thing i knew he was asking for 1k to appear for interview and help me gather the doc. i didnt even bother calling and letting him kno w, tho arlington office cc: my interview letter to lawyer office . wich i boubt they really posted , or my lawyer would be looking for me otherwise . all u have to do is to sign a paper where u will writre ur name and ur lawyer name and hereby that u are going to proceed on ur own . some people with lack of confidance will tell u hire a lawyer too. i wont ...i m telling u its a very simple interview. trust me

Wellwisher2002,

Congratulations on the receipt of the interview letter. You must be somewhat relieved now though you got to run around for gathering the documents for the interview.

Well, keep us updated on the documents you gather and also the interview. Whats your Employment category , EB2 or EB3?

Let me know

wow wellwisher2002,

First Congratulations for receiving the long waiting interview letter. That relieves you a lot. I know 9 months is very long time. After the case is transferred in March it took 9 months i.e. november for arlington office to schedule the interview.

Carefully create different files all your family members and keep all the possible documentation in all different folders and carry them to interview. Its upto you whether you want to take lawyer with you. As Adnamj said i don't think it will be complex if you have all the documentation. It all depends the comfort level each person.

Keep us posted with what all is happening to your case. That will be a very good feedback for us.

All the best for your interview.
