Transferred to Local INS office in Washington -Aug 15th RD

everyone,
Good morning!! Some news on the Arlington office move. The DC office has finally moved to the new location. New address for this office is:

USCIS
Washington District Office
2675 Prosperity Avenue
Fairfax, VA 22031

For more details check DC office update

Hi H1BLayoff,

Good to hear that news. I hope they are fully moved including the division which handles our transfer cases too. The new office is just 4 miles from my work place. It will be a less commute for me to go for stamping :). Did they move to pretty same size building or bigger building?

I went to Baltimore Immigration office for my 1st FP in 2003. How would VA office is very small when they are covering DC, VA area? Is it because small building, small staff they are taking long time to handle the cases? Baltimore is comparatively better in handling the cases.

Hoping the local office meet the deadline given for my case, scheduling the interview in either December or early of Jan/05.

WellWisher2002 all the best for the interview preparation. Sometime soon i will asking something like this for my interview. All the best for your interview.

Thanks ...certainly ..I will post everything just after the interview...Thats what I wrote the same thing few days back that they are moving during the Thanksgiving ...so its really a very good news for all ..hope for the best..all should be interviewed very soon..

best of luck again to everyone.

Thanks

Is any one planning to go to the new office to see what it looks like?? If any one does please post your experience here.

how does that really matter for us? External apperances wont reveal people's behaviour or prompt services? It applies for human beings too.

Hi Friends,

Did any one has any updates with transferred 485 applications? I think Washington DC district office is starting their operations from today in new office if i remember correctly. I wish all of us should get interview letters sooner the possible.

Urgent !!

What should I do here?

Arlington ..old office was mentioned as an Interview location in my Interview letter. But now this office has been shifted to the new location. What should I do. Can any body suggest ...phone number etc. because I tried my level best and could not reach any body in any office (old /new).

Should I go to the new location with the same letter or?

Thanks in advance

EAD renew

I havn't heard anything from the local office till now, even a receipt. But they cashed my check the next day they received my application. I got an infopass to talk to them next week, to see what they would say.

Thanks PeaceInSpirit for quick response..

Please post the outcome of your discussion with immigartion officer.
Thanks again.

i am just fedup with all the different answers I get.

Cong. Frank Wolf's office:

All files are sitting in Missouri. DC office notifies them of slots available for employment based interview. They then send the files (might be electronically). Currently no update from DC office. Further update will be available only when the appointment date is set.

Sen. John Warner's office:
Haven't heard anything from Ms Edwards

Sen. George allen:
The DC office is unable to communicate with us as they do not have telephone or internet access. It will probably take some time due to the move.

Does anything make sense?

Hi Friends,

I need a big help guys. Mine is an future employment case for peramanent residency. My sponsoring employer is a small company who majorly does consulting. If i continue with them after getting peramanent residency then i would have to work as a consultant through this company at some client location. But since my company is small and since they don't have much grip in the market its kind of difficult to work with them.

I am kind of thinking to switch to another company as a peramanent employee and switch the GC process over there or join the new company after obtaining the GC by leaving the current sponsoring company.

How exactly do the job duties need to match if at all i take opportunities. Do the roles need to match exactly the same ie. if the labour states the job role as Software Engineer it should be the same with the new company also.

For example if the labour states that the job duty after GC is Software Engineer working on some database, using operating system like unix etc. and if i find an opportunity like Systems Analyst who deals with coordinating the requirements guys, then working with developement and testing under the same environments like Database, operating systems etc. Will that be ok to present in the interview or will it be too risky to even attempt this?

I think being a future employment case you'll be OK. Just remember that they want to make sure (after getting getting Green Card) you don't become a liability on government and start taking unemployment benefits. It hardly matters whether you're working as an analyst or a DBA. Make sure you're job duties in the employment letter match the ones in your labour(just in case), title doesn't matter.

Thanks again to everybody...(URGENT...)
Here are some questions ...I will really appreciate if any one can answer these especially who has already gone through this phase:

-Redo F.P for my wife only but not me ..Have they done any mistake. Should I call them back..we both had done in Jan 2004 (IInd FP)

-Medical Results for my Daughter only (Can I take copy of last medical results or should I go and re-do again. They said that if you don't have even then appear for an interview)

-Merriage Registry (What is this? Is this different with Marriage Certificate)

-What time should I reach there..early 5 AM .. My Interview time is 1:00PM mentioned on the letter.

Thanks in advance...

Wellwisher2002,
Isn't your interview scheduled for tomorrow? A piece of advice (my 2c)

Just make sure you're present at the new office well in advance. You never know what might be in store for you taking into consideration the staff there. Just be prepared and head there.

All the best and do update whenever you get a chance on how your interview was.
