DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

A little update on my case today;

I called USCIS and the agent told my case is in Dallas Office since September 2. I think it's a good news but then again I talked to three agents so far and all of them gave me different answers. Live chat agent said its at Queens FO last week, phone call agent said it was in transit and now the new agent says it has been at Dallas FO since Sept 2. I also received a reply form congressman in Dallas, saying "I have received confirmation from USCIS, ill update you as soon as anything comes my way. They do request a 30 day response time, however I let them know your concern about the deadline of 09/30." Is there anyway I can actually contact Dallas FO?

You can send them mail by courier for next day delivery - of course you'll have no way of knowing if they're acting on the mail you sent or not. You can also look into hiring an attorney at this point who may be open to visiting the FO with you and trying to get you inside to speak with someone about your case like @cbs5hiuc successfully did (see details from their post below):

Hi All, a massive update on my very problematic case. As you know, my case was at a total standstill. I tried everything to push it forward from congressional inquiries, inquiries to two senators, USCIS tier-2 call back, USCIS request to expedite, ombudsman inquiry, etc.

On Friday I received a private note from someone on this forum that explained they were in a similar situation two years ago and found an immigration attorney to contact a senior member of the USCIS Albany FO directly to track down the status of the case.

Being so close to the deadline, I felt it necessary to take the same steps (after all, nothing to lose). I called around 15 immigration lawyers asking for a quick 5-minute consultation. One attorney from the city noted that he had an interview for another client on Monday (today) and that after the interview he would try and get a word in with the supervisor to check on my case. We actually ended up meeting at USCIS Manhattan FO on Friday last week around 3:30pm but they wouldn't let us in without an appointment and all the supervisors had already gone home.

I then decided to join him at 9am this morning - just felt like the best thing to do and was reluctant to leave it up to someone else to fight for me given how passionate I am about this. We arrived at USCIS and were able to skip the queue without an appointment as he had an attorney card. I had my I-485 Receipt notice, my biometrics notice, my passport, and birth certificate. We then made it up to the floor of the Manhattan FO and walked straight up to the counter. He had a letter prepped and explained that I was a DV winner with 15 days to get a GC and that he thought my case had fallen through the cracks. She looked up the number and concluded that my application was in fact at the Manhattan FO (phew).

She then had us take a seat and wait while she spoke to someone. After around 10 mins she came back to ask if I was ready to interview TODAY. I of course said yes, even without the appropriate documentation (once-in-a-lifetime opportunity). After another two hours, I got called into the interview. I had a lovely lady. She asked about my home country, my current non-immigrant visa, what I did for work, some questions on a previous J1 visa, and then went through various questions relating to the I-485 form. Criminal record, etc.

She asked if I had my taxes and a letter of support from my employer, I said yes in my application but apologised for not bringing another copy due to the last-minute interview. She said it was fine and found it in the stack of paper. We spoke about my work which she took an interest in, a bit about her own living situation in new york (small talk really). After about 20 mins she said I was good to go. I asked her what that meant, and if I was approved and she said yes all approved and you'll get the green card in the mail in around 3 weeks.

My case status changed to Card is being Processed around 1 hour after I left. I know it's not the end until I have that card in my hand, but I think it's looking good. I will say, though it cost me to get an immigration lawyer, I think it was the right decision being so close to the cut-off date.

I want to thank everyone here from the bottom of my heart for providing recommendations and bringing positive thoughts! It's corny, but true - if you want something bad enough don't give up. There's always a way. Hope this works out and I get the card in the mail soon!

Will continue to pay it forward on this platform in the future and update my timeline accordingly. :) again, not the end, but THANKS!

I'm getting ready for our interview on 9/26 - I want to be perfectly prepared as there is no time to react if anything is missing.

I see in people's descriptions of their interviews that they need photocopies of some documents. We are a family of five and have all had various visas and passports while in the US. I don't want to copy everything and then have a million pieces of paper that makes things confusing in the interview, especially as the AOS package has copies of everything already.

Can someone tell me what I should have copies of for the interview?

I understand that you had a different question, but buy one of these bad boys (below) and nothing would be confusing. I used it for our own interview.

I would suggest taking copies of what ever form you had submitted. Having a copy of the original documents that you are taking with you would be a good idea.

Thank you!! My very similar folder just arrived from Amazon after a fellow Aussie who just got his AOS DV green card suggested it. You're right, I'll just take copies of everything neatly organized in this!

@Sm1smom my case was transferred to USCIS.
I received this email. Your case has been forwarded to USCIS. Any further inquiries regarding this case must be directed to them.

Congratulations @cbs5hiuc. Can you please answer my one question, how did you find attorney who has access to USCIS FO or have appointment there? I was following your steps and just found out that not all attorneys have that access.

I also decided to call USCIS one more time today, following @Sm1smom suggestion on someones post saying "try USCIS until you find nicer agents." And I actually had a nicer agent today, she was very polite and was willing to actually explain everything unlike all the other agents I had. She also told me my case is at Dallas FO since Sept 2 and also filed a form for expedite request and said I'd be getting decision on expedite request by 9/27. Is expedite request dependable? The timing seems very tight.

HI @jr2022, would you please share how you connect and talk to an agent? I called USCIS contact number several times and said "service request" or "case status" but was unable to connect to a real agent no matter what. Thanks.

Hello, my status has just been updated as "Case Was Approved"!! I had waited to receive an interview notice for over 50 days, but apparently, my interview was waived.

In my case, any other possible solutions (ask congressman/ombudsman/attorney for help, call USCIS to expedite the process many times) did not work, but sending a letter to the FO worked; thank you so much @Sm1smom for your advice!
I just wanted to share this experience just in case someone still waiting for an interview has not tried this way.

I can't thank everyone in this community enough. Now I am (a bit less) anxious and waiting for the card to arrive.

So good to read of your approval. Congratulations and thanks for the update.

Hi mom, thanks for contributing to this forum and dedicating your time and knowledge.

It's been 10 days that my status still shows the Interview was completed and my case must be reviewed. Should I send a letter to IO or even walk into FO?

Did you verify with IO if your background check was complete and if s/he had received your KCC file?

Hi all,
Here are the details of our cases, me (status: F1-OPT STEM) and my wife (status: active TPS/F2)
On August 30, we attended a GC interview based on the DV-2022 at the LA Field office. The interview went well, with just a few questions in the I-485 application (10-15 minutes). According to the officer, she has requested a document from a different office. She said she will decide after receiving that document (within 2 weeks). It's been more than two weeks but we haven't heard back from USCIS. The status says "Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed". I tried to call USCIS this morning about it but was not able to cross virtual support. I had filed a second I-485 application based on EDV thinking that it will be processed faster than my other pending I485 based on NIW. We want to travel outside the country ASAP after approval (or decision) of I485 applications. As the end of the fiscal year is close, like others in the same boat, wondering a lot about our cases.

Your IO (is familiar with DV based AOS application) already told you at the end of your interview he needed more time to review your case. Based on that, my recommendation is to wait. But if it makes you feel better, go ahead and send him a letter, or attempt a walk in.
