We all definitely deserve beers (shots for me) after a whirlwind few months! So happy to hear the goods news @cbs5hiuc.Thank you!!! My status changed to Case Is Approved today. I am over the moon! Perhaps Aussie meet up somewhere in the city? Not sure how we go about organising that haha @AustrAlien @dazza2104 @Blade_ (I think you are all Australian)
On the same boat here, my FO is in San Jose and chargeability country is Taiwan. My work field might be TAL related, haven't heard back since interview on 8/30 (the IO did say it's pending background check). I initiated congress inquiry this week, and the staff there said it might take 3-5 weeks for NBC to get back to them on status.Hi @Sm1smom,
My case has been added to the timeline spreadsheet (row 71 for now), the field office is Portland, OR. After a long wait, me and my wife finally had interview last Tuesday (Sep 6th). The IO was kind and the interview went well, at the end he said everything looks good and he's gonna approve our case, and we will receive our cards pretty soon within 4 to 5 days. However, our case status does not get any updates after the interview, and the latest status in the system still shows "Fingerprints were taken" which was updated on May 6th. I talked to the Emma live agent, she only sees "The interview was scheduled." at her side. Since it's already very close to the end of September, I am anxious about current situation a lot. May I have you suggestion? Should we keep waiting or is there anything we can do at this moment? I appreciate your great help.
Quite interesting with both of you being chargeable to the same country, Taiwan. Thanks for the update and for coming you were informed upfront about your pending background check. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you also and hoping your approval comes through soon enough. On the same boat here, my FO is in San Jose and chargeability country is Taiwan. Thanks for the update. Still can't find you on the spreadsheet though. I'm sure you found that tool useful while going through your AOS process. Pay it forward by at least adding your storyline to the Timeline spreadsheet.yestarday i received my card thank you so much @Sm1smom for this forum
Thanks for the update. Indeed, there’s some miscommunication/confusion going on here. The FTJ communication should be between your FO and the embassy. Your FO forwards your AOS case file (following your AOS approval) to the embassy. The embassy cannot proceed with scheduling your son’s interview if there’s no proof of AOS approval communicated to them.@Sm1smom Hey mum here is a quick update on my case. KCC advised the officer that the $330 is to be paid at the time of the PA/fTJ interview. They also communicated that my child needs to go to the embassy and initiate a FTJ. He was presented to the embassy but they are not able to book his interview because the communication has to come from KCC that I have received my adjustment of status. My attorney went to USCIS for a different case but used the opportunity to talk to the supervisor. We are hoping to hear from him soon. I feel sad and frustrated. It seems there is a miscommunication.
Good morning mom, so I tried typing infopass as you suggested before on Emma chat, and I got an agent replied to me "This case will remain pending and will not be worked until the visas become available. They are not available at this time." Not sure if this is just a standard reply...haven't heard of visa running out for the year yet.Quite interesting with both of you being chargeable to the same country, Taiwan. Haven't heard of that either. I think the response was basically a way out for the agent to not continue the convo with you. Maybe, wait a couple of hours and try again (maybe you'll get a nicer agent).Good morning mom, so I tried typing infopass as you suggested before on Emma chat, and I got an agent replied to me "This case will remain pending and will not be worked until the visas become available. Sounds like what would be a standard response to a family preference or employment case where the priority date is not current yet. It’s not unheard of for people to reach agents who are clueless about DV AOS.Good morning mom, so I tried typing infopass as you suggested before on Emma chat, and I got an agent replied to me "This case will remain pending and will not be worked until the visas become available. I see, thanks Mom and Susie for the reply. I eventually called USCIS and got an agent, who said that my case is still processing (unclear what reason though). I explained the urgency of diversity visa and she helped submit a request to USCIS and said that they would get back to me within 7 business days. Finger crossed. (San Jose FO seems to be slow recently, not just on my case but several others too)Sounds like what would be a standard response to a family preference or employment case where the priority date is not current yet. Just an observation here...semiconductor industry related work seems to be under scrutiny recently. My H1 got an AP when I went back for stamping earlier this year. It cleared after a month though.I see, thanks Mom and Susie for the reply. I eventually called USCIS and got an agent, who said that my case is still processing (unclear what reason though). Hey @Sm1smom from your experience have you heard of FTJ being initiated from the embassy directly without filing I-824. USCIS said I am not required to file it.Thanks for the update. I'd normally say that you should take a look at the spreadsheet but then again your case is approved, so no need to refer you there. Yes this is not unusual and it is because you front-loaded your package per mom's well-prepared instructions. Congrats!Just update to my case, card is being producing. I am just wondering that I didn’t get any approval notice nor interview! Is that normal?
Yes there have been successful reports of DV based FTJ cases which did not involve I-824 filings. Follow up question though, when you say USCIS said you are not required to file an I-824, precisely who was said that said that?Hey @Sm1smom from your experience have you heard of FTJ being initiated from the embassy directly without filing I-824. @Sm1smom I called USCIS and requested for infopass. I read the email I received from KCC attached below. He searched for on follow to join said the embassy is able to process a FTJ without me filing for the I-824. He said it’s not necessary. And advised I contact the embassyYes there have been successful reports of DV based FTJ cases which did not involve I-824 filings. This is exactly why I wanted you to be specific as to who told you that. More often than not, take what the USCIS agents tell you with a grain of salt, especially the frontline agents who are basically contractors who have been provided with scripts for handling phone calls and chat messages. An I-824 is a standard part of FTJ in general, however due to sunset factor issue, some DV based FTJ cases have been processed without the form. This is not something a USCIS agent will know about, as those agents do not even know or understand the process involved with DV based AOS applications. So yeah, I doubt his so called search returned the information you were provided with.@Sm1smom I called USCIS and requested for infopass. I read the email I received from KCC attached below. You really need to take a look at at the FTJ tab of the DV Tracker - Unique Situations spreadsheet and read up on what others have done in the past.
