Who want to be part of action team

cinta,

I don't expect more than 10-15 people to attend in the first place. Just put it out there in case people are enthusiastic enough to attend, I din't want to damp their enthusiasm. To tell you the truth, I will be happy if eveyone on the core team attends.

We need everyone's support to make this work and that will happen only if they are involved with every step of the way.

As far as quality of the call is concerned, they have something called Conversation mode, using which everyone other than the hosts will be muted, they can hear but not participate in the discussion. Which will reduce the distubances initially, and after initial conversation we can open the discussion to everyone.

But offcourse I am open to suggestion, if people feel this meeting should be closed but for core team and state team leads, I am fine with that. I have only posted the information on the yahoo groups, not given it to anyone as yet.

Thanks, 140_takes_4ever.
I'll be there.
I bet there will be more than 15 participants. Let's see.

Good Job 140_takes_4ever.
It will be very difficult to have a tele discussion between more thwn 20 people. So i think we can restrict this call to the core team members and for active non-core team members. I got the numbers and i hope that every other core team member checked their Email and noted down the number. See you all on Saturday
5pm (EST), 4pm (CST), 2pm(PST). Don't be confused about the TimeZones.

140_4ever,
I think that we need 2 hours booking time. What duration did you book for ?

Core Team members

I hope that all the core team members join the tele conference. I know that it came at short notice but if you are not on a vacation, you can join it atleast for a brief time. You can call the access number even from your mobile phone. So you can participate in the teleconference even while eating a burger at McDonalds.
Since 10 people from NJ will be joining this conference call, it is guaranteed that the teleconference will have good participation. So don't miss it. Let us lead by example.

Send me an e-mail

I will send you my cell phone number. If something comes up while you are talking and you need my input, call.

Rajiv

Thanks Rajiv,
I have just now sent an Email to you (rskhanna@immigration.com). you can send me the cell phone number. Hopefully we all can talk to you on Saturday evening.

Done.

I would like to form a state team for IL

I do not see IL represented and would like to take the lead in forming a state team. At the moment I am in between projects and can devote time to this effort. Please let me know what I need to do next.

This is a great effort my praise for all who are spearheading it.

Thanks

The way freeconferencecall.com works is that you register for an access code and telephone number which is valid for 90 days from time of registration.
Each conference can last for a maximum of 6 hours.
You can have as many conference calls as you want within that 90 day period with the same access number.
The only thing you have to pay for is your long distance bill.

Like I mentioned earlier, I don't expect more than 10-15 people to show up and since call hasn't been advertised at all, only people active on this thread or on the yahoo group will have details about the call.

Rajiv,

Many thanks for your support. You have been going out of your way to assist us. I know we keep thanking you time and again, but everytime we think you have done as much as you should, you surprise us by going the extra step. So thanks once again.

Rsur,

It is very easy to form a state group, it doesn't take too much of your time and neither will you have to do much other than follow your district Congressman's schedule. Here is a bunch of simple instructions to set up a show of hands campaign in IL:
1. Start a new clean thread and state your intention to start a state level group, request for volunteers and ask them to find out which districts they belong to using www.congress.org
2. Each volunteer, takes the responsibility of finding out the next date of town meeting with his/her representative.
3. The volunteer then posts that information along with clear instructions as to directions and a central place to meet.
4. Request RSVP's from other show of hands volunteers and voila you have organization complete.

The above steps makes it very simple to set up state organizations and doesn't require any extra allocation of time to organize face to face meetings etc.

We also have various documents typed up that you can use as a basis of cover letters etc. to use in town meetings/District office visits etc. Just let us know what form of help you require in this regard and we will try to assist you.

Good luck and thank you for trying to make a difference.

Good Show I140_takes_4ever.

We will need meeting moderator.(I140 volunteer?) Who will list down attendees and let everyone speak. May be we can limit 60 sec time for each participant to speak at a time. Also we will need few points agenda.

I will be busy moving my apartment on Saturday. But will try to join at least for some time.
Thanks for the initiative.
Karma_Yoga.

I don't think we need a moderator! We are a group of self motivated, focused people, who are banding together to make a difference.

Also, don't think the 60 sec rule is wise, other than for basic introduction. I will try to post a basic agenda for discussion, to which people can add points. I expect this meeting to be a get-to-know-each-other kind of meeting, more than a hard policy generating one, so no point in restricting free flow of discussion or debate.

I will not be able to call in, but I think 140_takes_4ever can represent us.
I will leave for Southern California tomorrow (12/5) night, and I will be at Ed Royce (R CA 40th) town hall meeting with 4-5 people in Saturday afternoon.

We will miss you Kahmir. But kep the access number and pass code with you so that if you find time, you can join the conf call from your mobile phone.

Thanks for the encouragement and guidance

dsatish,
I tried replying to your Private Message but it would not go through as your mailbox is full.

We are on our way to forming a team for IL.

It is nothing. I hope, one day, I will devote a much larger percentage of my time on justice, less on law.

Rsur,

Good move. Explore the Congress/Senate in IL and other resources. An example,

http://www.caaelii.org

The people who brought you the Ombudsman..

As someone had suggested wisely before, how about having someone (hired and paid by us) to collect the names of the 3000+ signatories of the petition and send them to their respective senators and congressmen using their names. The response can then be judged quickly.

I was the guy

wise or not, I dont know :) . Yes we should send individual petitions with signatures. They will definitely provide more impact. I think that the petition online should be having such an option. If any one of the moderators can take out some time and try to figure it out it will be great.

Urgent meeting

Hi Team,
I think it's high time we should have a conference call (before Rajiv and we lose momentum). We already have conf. call phone number and access code. Shall we have a conference call tomorrow(Thursday, 12/11) from 9pm (EST) to 10pm (EST) ?
We are suddenly falling apart, lacking any co-ordinated responses and lacking in enthusism with regard to our communication with Rajiv.

From now on, we should have the conference call twice a week. Every wednes day at 9pm (EST) and Saturday 5pm (EST).

Regarding tomorrow's conference call, i propose that let's go ahead with who ever joins. Let's not wait for every one's response. We have enough buffer in our strength to take care of absenteeism from a few (obviously every one can't make it to every meeting because of our preoccupations).
Who else is ready to join the meeting ?

Agenda : To discuss about Law Suit options and Fund issue (there seem to be a crisis for this). Once we discuss these issues among ourselves, we can talk to Rajiv over the week-end. LETS MOVE FAST. I see the Law Suit coming (and the BCIS moving) :p
