Who want to be part of action team

Enquiry letter is a formal way of asking your case status. Either Attorney or applicant can initiate that. BCIS officer might be offended if oneuse harsh words in letter. That is all saying.

Even I send enquiry letter to VSC some time back. But it is not worked out for me.

Clearly, out of the people who voted till date, they have expressed an overwhelming desire to sue USCIS. We have already collected enough signatures to start initial consultations. Sanju13 has been very active and is also willing to handle the checks we post to the lawyer. Sanju13 could you please come up with details on who you would like to contact and when. Carl Shusterman's name seems to be on most people's lips, since he has a good track record .
Who else in the group would want to be part of this effort.

You have taken initiation on this. I would suggest you to send a e-mail to attorney, to find out feasibility of this. If it is feasible then I would say get his fee structure.

This will give how much we need to do this.

I am out of ideas. Can any body suggest me what to do?

If we as a group, cannot meet the VSC director can a representative such as a lawyer meet him?
If that is possible then we as a group should hire a strong lawyer

Also, what about meeting the Ombudsman? he should be available to meet the group.

My 2.5 cents

Sorry was not aware of the effort going on here. Thanks ayan for pointing me in this direction.
So far the groundswell has not resulted in any action. I think we should cash this effort in whatever way we can, regardless of what lawyers think whether there is a provision or not.
Here are my suggestions
1. We should form Non Profit Organizations in each affected state. Costs about 100$ to incorporate one. Association of applicants still waiting for green card- or something similar. This association can have chapter in all the states and can coordinate policies, petitions etc.
2. Collect petitions/affidavits from all the applicants authorizing the office bearers of this org to appeal to the director about the pending case.
3. We can hire: professional lobbyist, lawyer and writer to do all the background work.
4. Send a letter in this association's letter head requesting a meeting with the SC director. Send letters to local congress persons, senators and meet them all in a professional setup. If we can Coordinate the day and time it should be possible- yes all of them should be met on the same day.
If you want to make an effort, do it the american way- do it big and loud.

To this effort, If you all think we can do something together, I pledge my initial 500$ . Come on. Enough with writing individual petitions. Let us take this to the next level. I will try to keep this thread under watch for more responses.
Dont give up- yet.

My contribution...

I went to meet this lawyer who I thought could be our help in sueing BCIS...but it was waste of $150 for 1 hour.

What he thinks about it :

Yes, We can sue them and for sure thats how it will work but for that we need a attorney who specialises in class suit.

It will cost us around 50k to 100k . LCA (Legal council of America)
conducts those...lawsuits.

He says every one is frustrated...and he will help me if he hears back from any of his buddies who want to take our case.

Hi, sanju13,
Thanks for your having met a lawyer and reported it to us.
I believe it was a valuable first step toward the lawsuit.

Edison, go ahead. I think AILF and AILA share some structure and members. I am not sure about the whole relationship and who drives what.

Thank you Sanju13,
Very responsible, as always. 50K is big amount. I don't think we can collect that much. I would suggest to approach any organisation like isn, aila etc.,

Manumanhi

Manu Bhai - Dont loose hope about 50K I think it not that big amount if we put serious efforts I guess we ll fill it up.

Let's do it!!!

Folks :

Its high time now...I see same problems same questions....again and again.

Edison - Can you tell me how to contact this law suit company or who ever can support us...like AILA or other associations.

I will call them personaly or if needed will fly to meet them.

This is my promise to myself and you others - We need to do asap thats how this monster ( backlog) will come under control else we all will be sitting here for ages talking and thinking....

Guys dont even think of money you will spend for this cause..this is not going to some charity its for your benefit + others too who are in same boat with u.

How much relief you will get...just think about it and than think about few bucks u ll spend in this process...

If I have to contribute...I can go to any level ..I will think BCIS added a new fees ( Just think this way)...as what you pay to BCIS is all in one black hole...but here atleast we know what we are doing .

Thanks for your support.

-Sanju
