TSC Consolidated 485 Tracker

I've got a magic email today. My 485 got approved for me and my wife. Finally this long journey is over. It took 1333 days (3 years, 7 months, 25 days/115,171,200 seconds/1,919,520 minutes/31,992 hours).

I'm planning to travel overseas on 5/18. Is there any chance I will have the card in my hand by that time, so I can use it :) ?

This forum helped me to stay insane and I wish everybody will receive the GC soon!

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On May 7, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service

Hi eezee, congrat! Mine got approved on 4 May. However, my wife one is still pending...:(

It seems that they are start to process cases received in August 2006...

So what is next after approval? When I had my fingerprinting, they didn't take any photos. How will they manufacture the card without recent photos?
The only photo they have what I filed in 8/2006 (I-485).

Some how I feel they misplaced our applications. (Either USCIS or FBI )
Some they found and started the name check much after we applied, some they have not yet figured out where they are
August 2006 is when the visa numbers for India became unavailable right !

There are way too many people stuck to consider it as a coincidence.

All the people who filed in July 2006 are stuck in the FBI Name Check. I wonder ...... Why????

They will ask you to do another FP. This has happened to many people even if their photos were already taken during the first FP after filing 485. They no longer use the pictures you mailed in. Wait for the notice in the mail.

You can walk in and do your FP sooner in most cases to get your card faster. Good luck.

Anything is possible. It does seem very suspicious that a lot July applications are peding Name Checks.

There is some reason

By August 1, 2006 the EB2 visa dates of a particular country were being
"U" . So there was a rush of applicants filing in July 2006 ( i happened to be just one of them ). When they sent applications of July 2006 for security check it was a huge box. Seeing the size of box, the security agencies put it aside with comment "Jeez it is quite a big one. Other months those were very small. I will look at this bundle later".

Or something similar to the following might have happened :

Did you ever receive a letter from First Lady's office?

Did you receive an acknowledgement letter from First Lady's office? If so, when?

guys,

thanks a lot. I'm sory but I can't post my letter to First lady because it is very personal.

I learned many lessons for this NC process thing:

1 st lesson:
try to go after your pending NC as quickly as possible like i did. i believe that once ur name is stuck, it is stuck and it in most cases it wil take at least 1.5 yr to clear, if u don't do anything. but if u do something (even if ur case is less than 6 months pending), then you have a chance of getting cleared.

my whole point, it is not really very wise to wait years before you approach politicians to help you clear ur namecheck. Approach them early especially if you have a good case to write about in your letter.

2 nd lesson:
Among politicians, the first lady is the main key to clear the namecheck.

3 rd lesson:
don't send ur letter to first lady unless u have attached to it the FOIPA. in the letter that i got from fbi yesterday, the letter is about 1.5 pages, about 1 page is just about arguing about the difference between NC and FOIPA. i think the FOIPA makes ur case stronger.

AGAIN DON'T WAIT YEARS IN ORDER TO CLEAR YOUR NAMECHECK. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME, JUST DO IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

good luck all.

InfoPass/POJ, then congressperson, or even FL

First off, guys, congrats on getting positive results from a good fight..

Given that my RD is only in Feb 07 with NSC, I suppose I should not be contacting any of the political figures for a status check on the NC process until my case is 6 to 7 months past the processing times. I have however grown uneasy after following this forum daily and reading about numerous NC delays. (maybe i should really quit reading, but i can't.. :( )

So, can you guys suggest when I should start using the POJ method (exactly what is it?) or setting up an infopass session to find out about my NC progress? should i wait until august, or should I do this earlier? (assume i can't get hold of a somewhat friendly agent in either case)

TIA!

And by the time all the checks are cleared it will be U again because all the EB3 would have converted to EB2 by then. This is immigration today - one step forward, two steps backward.

BTW, there was some rumor that EB2 dates will move ahead so that visa numbers are not wasted. If it happens, it just means EB2 will retrogress even more later..

no i didn't receive any acknoledgement letter from first lady office. i just waited 70 days since i sent my letter and got one only letter from fbi sayin that my NC got cleared.

One of the strong reasons why visa numbers were wasted is that many applications didn't get approved due to security check. This could sound positive for the folks with later PDs, atleast they could apply I-485 and get benefits like EAD,AP etc.

And add more to already expanding backlog at FBI.

Recently several of my friends applied for citizenship. This also goes to Namecheck. None got stuck. No rumor stories but only based on a sample size of 10 it does seem like the namecheck for citizenship has higher priority than GC.

Rollingstone is right. India EB-2 is headed backwards. Early 2002 or may be late 2001 where it may meet EB-3 looks a likely scenario. This will be bad for all of us stuck in yet another hole. But then India got too many GC in 2003-4 as stated by UN. So next few years are going to be an uphill climb for dates.

Seems like a train which got delayed at one station and is now made to wait for every other train coming from behind.

I thought, since one suffered at infamous philadelphia backlog accumulation center , the next stages will become faster ( indeed I-140 was cleared in 1.5 months ) , but i don't know.

May be your theory is right, take my case
i appled my 2nd 485 in July 2006 and i came to know from infopass that my namecheck initiated in Feb 13th 2007, you can think that uscis/fbi didnt check my paperwork until feb 07, then they realized that i didnt completed my namecheck then they initiated

still something fishy going on my case, i appled my first 485 in Aug 2004 and eventually my 485 got denied due to employer fruad, dont know about my namecheck clearance for that 485 applicaiton

any thoughts????

I do have the same question.

Experts, any idea?

I am planning to put in a FOIPA request with FBI. I confirmed that my case is pending security checks thru POJ technique last week. So, I figured that FOIPA will be my next step before I start contacting the politicians. I ws on the FBI website and looking at the FOIPA form. I guess you can just submit that online by clicking send at the bottom or have to send it by snailmail. Is that the right form I am looking at? Also, it mentions something about fees and waiver of fees. What is that all about? Would appreciate a response from those who have filed it in the past. Thanks!

Name Check

Hello everyone !

My I-140 got approved. I applied I-485 in April 17, 2007, my FP was done in May 5, 2007. Do you think it would be too early if I call USCIS for the status of my Name Check. Please advise.

Thanks a lot !!

It is the one you have to send by mail - the Privacy Act request. The one you can submit online is for Freedom Act request only.

Note there is a PDF version of the FOIPA form hidden in the instructions which you can fill out using Adobe, otherwise you have to write "under perjury ....." because it is already there.

rd was 6/13/06
Posted by PB904207 ontrackitt.com 02 Apr 2007 3:51pm PSTI wrote to the First Lady and her office forwarded my request to FBI. If you write a suitable request letter to the First lady explaining your situation, iyt would work out. Good luck
