This time, I have a question: My I-140 was approved about two month ago, I am pending change of status (I-485 pending). My company is expanding, therefore we changed our office building recently. The change is very minor, meaning that the city name and the zip code are still the same, we just moved a few blockes to a larger building.
My colleauges and I were wondering if we should notify USCIS about this change. The comapny lawyer thinks since our I-140s have been approved, and since the change in address is not major, we don't need to say anything to USCIS.
What do you think?

This case is just sitting there and no one is looking into the file. Then, she told me that she is going to initiate an inquiry on behalf of me. I thanked her and drop off from the call.
From this and other forum, it is my understanding that different Cust Reps tell different things. So I've little faith on them. USCIS is highly unpredictable place. They process cases on random basis and until the case is approved, we can not predict anything
crazy_frog said:I went to USCIS today with an infopass appointment. They told me that my name check is pending. The rep. told me that in some cases name check gets cleared in 10 days and in some cases it takes 3 years. This is scary. How can we plan for our life?

Did you apply for EAD and AP? Have those been approved?

What I do not understand is that some of the people claim that they got the approvals in a rapid-fire-sequence speed while on the USCIS web site shows a date way back. I mean, for example, from the USCIS's recent post updated on Dec.5th, in that green-yellow-green table, it shows that TSC is processing the case on June 1st for the I-485. What's the reason that some people has got their I-485 approval (even got the cards) with a very recent RD/ND??
herenthere said:I don't think anyone understands how they process these cases and the reason for the random order. I think they just throw darts at case files and pick the ones they hit. I've seen several cases that were filed well after mine and got EAD/AP approvals within days, not weeks, and I'm still waiting after 2 months. And I'm not even from a retrogressed country. In some cases, even the I-485 has been approved in a week or two.
antonioa77 said:same here my friend, almost 2 months for EAD and Ap and nothing yet. some other people here got theirs in 2 weeks. I'm from a nonretrogressed country too. this system is stupid really. for sure it is random and it doesn't follow the FIFO process. but maybe LIFO or FILO, but not FIFO.

If you committed a crime or if you are suspected to commit a crime or to be related to a terrorist group, you should have been deported or detained long before you are eligible for AOS. I suppose > 99% of AOS applicants are clean. Yes, you might miss the 1% of the applicants who might potentially be bad, so what? There are way way more criminals who are natural born citizen than immigrants.

What is weird that these checks take long long time and potentially the 'bad guy' can remain in USA legally for such length of time and do whatever harm he/she can cause to USA. So it defeats the purpose of security check. .....
antonioa77 said:agree with you 100%. the whole system is messed up not just the namecheck. 3 to 5 yrs for LC, 3 yrs for namecheck and few yrs for Visa retrogression and few yrs for USCIS to clear its backlog. it is like 15 yrs of your life just to get this paper called the green card, and after that another round for the citizinship. it is like it takes 20 yrs to finish all this for some people. what a mysery!
prince123 said:US govt. is bound to protect its citizens and assets from 'bad guys' , so they do
these security checks and don't want to miss even 1 such bad person.

this kind of name check in parallel to the H1B stage ( since that is the real start of one's
immigration to USA ).

RJ_NJ2002 said:I agree with you. I would like to add that the biggest problem is that you need to be in the same position till you get GC .
1) if you leave company in the middle of I-485, you need to look for the same position.
2) If you leave company before I-140 get approved, you need to restart from the scratch.
I am into 9th year of my stay in USA and I am waiting for my I-485 approval. My application is touring whole USA. New Jersey , Philly backlog center, Nebraska, texas service center and now Vermont Service center.
Whoever written these rules should be awarded noble prize.
