TSC Consolidated 485 Tracker

The "official" timeline posted doesn't mean anything

How many people got their I140 approved within 1 month? 2 months? or 3 months? The "official" processing time was at Feb 2006.

Nearly all people filed I140/485 in July got their EAD and AP. The "official" processing time stayed at April 2006.

The "official" timeline posted on USCIS website gives you the worst scenario.

New LUD for 485

Hi all,
Both our I-485 got a LUD on 8/25/2006. Wonder what it means. Hope it means good news.

Good luck to all of us!

Backwards Processing Time

Did anyone see the new message posted on the processing times site?

It partly explains why the I-485 time has gone backwards to December 13 2005.

Mark

You are right

Mark,
Yes, you are right. According to their notice posted online, the backward for I-485 processing time just means they are not able to keep their 6-month processing time committment for I-485. At least this time they are trying to be HONEST!

Processing date backward

12/13/05

Thanks for the info. It makes my dicision to extend my H-1B visa easier. I aways hope to get I-485 approved before my 6 years expiration date (Nov 06) to save me a thousand dollars. But I guess I have no choice now.

Did a lot of people get a 8/25/06 LUD on their I-485? I always thought 2 consecutive LUD's is a good sign. Sigh....I guess I was wrong.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
Texas Service Center Processing Dates
Posted August 25, 2006

Notice: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has improved the reporting procedure for processing times of immigration benefit applications. In the past, USCIS benefit processing reports indicated the specific type of applications or petitions that were being processed and the date the cases were received. However, the date the case was received did not provide a clear indication of when USCIS expected to complete the case, nor did it provide a clear indication of USCIS commitment to process cases within a certain cycle time. It also did not align with the processing times and cycle times the agency reports in other contexts.

This improved reporting procedure is an effort to give our customers more accurate information that better reflects current processing time and USCIS service level commitments. Effective immediately, when we are completing applications and petitions within our service level goals we will report that as the processing time. For example, when our service level goal is to process a particular kind of case within six months, and if our processing time is six months or less, we will show a date consistent with our service level goal because that reflects our commitment.

When we are not meeting our service level goal, the date posted will reflect the filing date of cases that are being completed. It should be noted that while in some instances reported processing dates may appear to have regressed due to this change, they do not reflect a lengthening of USCIS processing times, but simply the change in reporting. Our goal is to provide accurate projections and thus give customers clear expectations as to what they can expect as a processing time.

Thanks. At least they are admitting that they are not meeting their service levels.

But what does "processing time" really mean?

Average processing time? Seems some (very few, but still) people are getting approved in weeks, so if it means average that's bad.

Worst case processing time? Obviously not, since many people have been waiting for years.

God, please let the wait be over soon. Since the beginning of this green card process, I have been waiting 15% of my entire life.

w220, I think they ARE worst case processing times. Those people who have been waiting for years don't have a current PD, do they?
Do you know anyone (a regular case) who has been waiting for years since his/her PD became current?

Those who are waiting on "Name Check" clearance are also waiting for years!!!

I agree with you on the principle (my I-140 with RD of April 18 got approved 2 months later). Still, only because some TSC departments work fast, it doesn't mean they ALL do (although there have been a few surprisingly fast I-485 approvals this year)... Plus this whole name check business - which we apparently now can't even check on until RD is 30 days past the official processing time chart... But how I wish you were right!!!

LUD does not appear to mean anything.

I called yesterday and found that my namecheck is not cleared yet despite the fact i see LUD last month

Hope you ll get your approval soon.

Should I renew my H1B for 8th year?

Folks,

I am trying to make my mind if I should spend about $2K to renew my H1B or should I rather buy a 50" plasma from Samsclub for that money.

I am already on 7th year H1B and its expiring in a month a half. I have got everything except I-485 approved. What do you suggest?

EB2 - Rest of the world - AD 04/2006
Concurrent - ND - 05/10/2006
Approved by 06/10/2006: I-140, AP, EAD
FP Date: 05/30/2006
I 485 LUDS: 05/30, 06/04, 06/05, 07/26, 07/27

why don't you file for EAD/AP and then you won't need to renew your H1-B. It is much cheaper. Forms I-131 and I-765. This will allow you to work and enter the country while your I-485 is pending.

Well, my lawyer still recommend me to do the H-1B extension even though I already have AP and EAD. Just to play safe if something could go wrong in the I-485 process. I only pay $750 though, while some pays almost $2000.
