California DOL uses SOC codes as DOT codes by just putting 999 in front of SOC code...

for example SOC code for Electronics Engineers (Except Computer) is
17-2072 ,,, the DOT code for the same Job Category is 999.172-072

11-0000 to 55-0000 are 23 major groups of Job Category.. you can click on the group of your interest (say 17-0000) to find further details & codes in that group

Thanks gp111. One more question, if you may please..

What would the following description fall into?. I just can't find something similar in SOC codes..

"Bachelors degree in CS/Engineering/Math/Physics or related plus two (2) years experience in Mechanical Engineering, or scientific applications programming."

depends on Job Title & Nature...

if its mostly mechanical Engineering its 999.172-141... if its computer programming related it can be 999.151-021 or 031..

WaitingonLC,

**** All depends on How good the company is & what is benifiting you career / Package wise.

If I ware you & If I am happy with my current company, I would stick to the current company & file I-140 from the new company... then wait for Labor from california company to file I-140/485 from here... this may be an expensive route but it will give me flexibility as well as safety if something happens to my job / one of the applications / H1B or one of the Companies !

Take a day or two to think about both options, don't change job only for the Green Card process & see what is good for you for given price..

hope this helps.

Hi GP11 and others,

Thank you for the suggestion...Based on the information I have provided for the CA labor above ,What will be the chances of getting certified my case and what will be the time line...I know it is hard to tell but just a guess and an estimate?

PD is priority Date ( Date on which Sesa received your application.. Aug 2003)..

RD is Received Date ( Date DOL receives your application)

DOT (SOC) code is Job Category Code (Job Category matching your profile - you can find further info at http://www.bls.gov/soc/soc_majo.htm )

You (your attorney) will receive DOL receipt with your RD & DOT code in few months..

Thanks a lot!

Hi DryHeat:
Is it simply remanded to state without any reason? Didn't you get any 3 option letter. They must state some reason for the remand?

This scares me.

If it is remanded to process under Non-RIR channel, it is not very bad. At the most it may delay your certification by 4 months. Since AZ is currently processing cases of June 04 for both RIR and Non RIR, your case will be taken up within a month and sent back to DOL after the advertizement effort. DOL will certify as soon it receives from state.

The same situation arised to my friend in AZ. His case was remanded to state in July 03. SWA, az took up the case in 03/04 and went for adversizement. Got some resumes. But none qualified. Results were submitted back to SWA in May04. case moved to DOL is June04 and got certified in the same month.
I guess same

What is PD and RD of your case? Is it RIR?

Perm update on http://www.immigration-law.com/Canada.html

08/07/2004: Where is the PERM?

Probably, by now people are sick to hear the term "PERM." There have been few "promised lands" which have not been kept and frustrated people as bad as this one. Ever since the DOL released the so-called "Five-Year Strategic Plan" in 1999 announcing the backlog reduction strategies which included the backlog reduction for existing cases and start of the PERM program for the new cases, it has surfed unknown territorial water over and over with no end in sight. After a struggle, DOL was successful in releasing the "proposed" regulation. Reportedly, the proposed regulation produced mountains of comments of pros and cons, giving the DOL an excuse for the further delays. Along the way, there was a change of leadership in the Foreign Labor Certification Division in the DOL leading to another delays. For heaven sake, despite the hurdles after hurdles, the DOL was able to work out the final regulation under the new leadership and forwarded it to the OMB in the White House in February 2004. When the 90-day review ended on May 21, 2004, the DOL reportedly requested the OMB to extend the OMB review because of the comments from its sister and brother agencies of Homeland Security Department, State Department, Department of Justice, etc. In the June AILA National Conference in Philadelphia, the Chief of the Foreign Labor Certification of DOL who was in charge of the PERM disclosed that the final regulation had to be revised because of the "room for fraud" concerns addressed by its sisters and brothers. The question remains where these brothers and sisters were when the proposed regulation was released!
Now this regulation is being held hostage in the White House. The American economy is continuously struggling despite the rosey picture some so-called "financial analysts" and political pundits attempt to draw through the cable TVs, Internets, and printed newspapers. Unemployment rate continues to remain high without much changes. Outsourcing has already given a trouble to the Bush Administration in the 2004 election politics. Now, we start hearing a rumor that the concept of "21-day" approval of foreign labor certification rather than taking years and years is the last "word" which the White House wants to hear under the current election environment. Anti immigration forces have also been working hard to picture the PERM program as "opening a flood gate for the foreign cheap laborers." The truth of this rumor is still unverificable. One thing we can only tell is that the regulation is going nowhere in the OMB, White House. The 90-day extension will reach on August 20. God knows what will happen then. No wonder why people hate politics and the term "politician" is not a noble term, unlike "statesman." Come November, whoever wins, we want to see a life which is not "totally" washed out by politics.

Our company in AZ has received 5 certification in the last month for the cases with RD between 09/03 to 12/03. But all the cases have 3+ years of experince. May be your case in less than 3 years mark. But even then no need to worry. You will get certification after a advertizement in local news paper.

We advertize on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for 4 months in AZ republic.

Received over 100 resumes.
34 contacted by phone, 14 interviewed in person, 3 considered and 3 offered position.

I have over 8 years of experience, but I think my lawyer suggest to advertize 2+ in ads.

Company still didn't get nothing from DOL.

some details about your LC bucs2004

bucs2004,

Could you provide some more details about your LC?
1. Is MS + 2 your position requirement or your qualification?
2. If MS + 2 is your position requirement on 750A, what is your degree and experience?
3. What is your 3 option letter about? Were you asked to have one-day ad on local paper? How many respond?

Thanks in advance.

Hi GP111/Guru,

Thank you for updates.

Could you tell the percentage of approval so far as well? What is the chance of getting certified if job requirement was BS+3 yrs/MS+6 months? 99.9999%?

Thanks.
