I have just faxed to Anna Eshoo's Washington DC office my letter to request a meeting with ImmigrationPortal.Com with our petition.
I will visit her office in Palo Alto downtown tomorrow.

Originally, I planed to visit her office this morning,
but my printer at my home was out of service yesterday, so I could not prepare the document.

fax the petition to my congressman

I've faxed the petition to my congressman, CA 41st district. This is an influential Republican and I don't think whether he's pro-immigration or not. But he should heed opinions of his district's people.

Faxed the petition to Anna Eshoo

I faxed the petition to Anna Eshoo but tried unsuccessfully to get through both Dianne Fienstein and Barbara Boxer.

I think i read on this thread somewhere to try during daytime. Will try tomorrow once again.

I emailed the petition to President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Barbara Boxer (CA), Dianne Feinstein (CA). I have received an autoresponse from the White House, saying that

we can send the petition to the President, the Vice-President, and the Federal Representatives (two Senators and one Congressperson) at VOTENET.COM

However, I still encourage you to send the petition by phisical delivery such as FAX, USPS MAIL, HAND CARRY especially until we get an appointment of a meeting with Congressperson,
because e-mail is too convenient even for Congressional offices to handle and bacause they don't read e-mail so carefully due to limitation of their time (I confirmed this at several town hall meetings).

I stopped by Anna Eshoo's Palo Alto office this morning on my way to work,
and handed my letter requesting a meeting with Congresswoman about our petition, and 8 pages of our petition to Mr. Charlie who promised to arrange it then to inform me.

Couple of pointers-might be useful

Hi Friends,

I have seen quite lot of movement on this thread and the goal is obviously the tough one but not impossible to achieve. I would like to throw my 2 cents in this drive which i assume might be helpful.

In 1998 back in India, i along with another 160 people were in a situation when a training institute said it would get H1 for a whole chunk of money and training in SAP. we got some training alright but no H1. When asked to give back the money, they stopped responding. We (all 160 people) fought back. we wrote petitions to the state assembly, met the police people including a group called White-collar fraud dept and the final was to stage a calm yet powerful protest near the institute. That triggered everyone to look into whats going on (as this institute was inaugurated by the CM) and the media covered it and finally got us money back.

What is important here is that we (all 160) met and talked and understood the issue. The frequency should match, people should be open and willing to commit to a cause.

Some of us were told we would be given money back and not for others but we did not heed. We stuck together and achieved it.

I know situation is different here but the rules almost apply the same here. We need to mobilize people into understanding the issue not folding hands and waiting for the turn to come. We (people in CSC - locality wise) should meet and stage a show/protest (peaceful yet poweful). The number should show and that is the key to tell them we are not a bunch of guys but a whole movement. People will get approved as the time goes by but they should still continue to work for the cause. I got my GC, so let me not bother should not come into picture.

We need to talk and express ourselves- first to each other and then to the world.

Thanks for taking time to read but we need to strengthen the efforts of Kashmir and others on this forum.

I just thought of something, why not approach the indian channel guys like NamasteTV and India Post which also covers the immigration issues and tell them about the petition and our issues/concens etc., so that they will atleast put a column in their news paper or say something on the TV.

I don't if this is feasible but atleast can give it a try!!!!

We can publisize the movement through these channels. What do you say, friends?
 
i just emailed our petition URL to IndiaPost.com 's Immigration Department.

Lets hope they would take a look at it...
