Did you get a call from the consulate telling you that the PCC had come through. You are lucky to get it in 30 days.
 
PCC delayed, thinking of Postponing the Interview

Dear PCC Seekers,
I have emailed to the US consulate in Chennai asking if the supporting document from Indian Embassy stating that I have applied for the PCC suffices the need for the PCC requirement. Their response was "This would not suffice, we require the PCC".

If I dont get my PCC by the end of January, I would postpone my interview scheduled for Feb 14. Any suggestions???

Why dont you try escalating the issue, try faxing and writing
email (search for email id in other threads for the Consul Gen of
Chennai). These desi staff who write these emails are morons. They
dont understand anything.
 
pro - My experience with CGNY

was always good. Three times I had to contact them, once last year for new PP, second time for PCC for self and 3rd time for my wife. If you send them e-mail they usually respond in 1 day. Phone Call, yes normally they dont lift, but If u try different numbers (as listed on website) one of them would lift and if you request, they transfer it to the right person.

pro - yes I may have been lucky, but I think for most people it takes around 30 days, 45 days is the max time they give you, Also yes they did call me to inform me to collect PCC.

My interview is on 15t and still do not have PCC. I\'m not even thinking about postponing my interview date. Actually, chennai did not give us sufficient time to take PCC (They have have posted it on there website sometime late december if I remember correctly), so they will have to make an exception and accept letter from the Consulate. I guess B\'bay has done that for many Jan people.

Spoke to SFO Indian consulate

The lady, after being brusque for a while, listened to what I had to say about my interview being on the 14th and not having the time to wait for 30-45 days. she said that i could fax a letter stating my case and asking for an earlier approval of the PCC by a day or two before the 30 day period. She did not say if this would work, but just said that it is the process.

PCC From Chicago

I Sent on 19th and they received on 20th..Fax was sent to RPO on 21st..When I called I was told that they did not received anything from RPO..But I have confirmation from RPO that the fax was sent on 10th and by diplomatic pouch on 17th..Chicago says I need to wait..I don\'t know the funda of 45 days..

Do consulate get a hold of you and issue PCC after 45 days?? Did anybody receive PCC from CHICAGO at all...I am really worried..

GC_Michigan - Call Chicago and ask them about 45 days ?

I am going to call and ask for PCC after my 30 days are over, and insist that they give it. My wife needs to go to India soon. I will see what they say.

Called CGNY just now

lady gave me the reference number and told that they have not received
anything from RPO but they can issue PCC next week.

There is no such rule with Chicago. They issue PCC as soon as they get
clearance from RPO. The rule may be, after 45 days, consulate can
issue PCC if they do not hear anything from RPO. This looks logical
to me. But it appears like this rule is twisted by some people at
other consulates. I sent my passports to Chicago for PCC. The lady
called me last Thursday and asked me to send passports for dispatching
PCC. Mine was applied on 12/31/01 and was cleared on 01/17/02.

Got reply from NYCG ...

REPLY: These days we take 45 days for PCC.

My 45 days are up just before my trip to India. Can we take for granted that if we appear at the consulate after 45 days that they will issue the PCC?
I have e-mailed them requesting to give it earlier. I hope i get this before I leave, I read a posting where interviewer have asked for PCC in a Jan interview at Chennai.
 
Chicago PCC

I had my PCC started from Chicago consulate on Jan 3rd. Had my parents follow up the case with the B\'lore RPO twice. B\'lore RPO said they faxed their replies to Chicago to the 10th AND 17th of Jan. Yet Chicago says they havent recd any faxes for my case. "Dont worry, we dont delay, we will process your case as soon as we receive the fax" -is their line, but doesnt ring true. Have to physically go there everytime to make an enquiry as they dont answer the phone (the lady handling PCCs is deluged with calls I beleive and so she never picks up the phone or return voice messages). I am leaving for my 13th Feb interview on Jan 26th, have got just 2 more days here...

Have also applied for PCC for my wife which is dependant on Chennai RPO\'s response (her passport is from Chennai). Will follow Santha\'s strategy to get clearance fax from Chennai RPO. Hope it works, I got just a couple of more days...
