I had written to Chennai about 30-45 days it takes for Indian Consulate in US to issue PCC and what is the impact if Indian Consulate is not able to issue PCC before I leave for Chennai.

Here is their reply

YOu have to get a Police Clearance Certificate from theindian
Consulate.
If you have your interview scheduled after 31st January, you definitely
require this clearance.

Guys, My interview is on Feb 15th and I have a question, If we get a PCC from the Indian Consulate General in the US(NYC), then still do we need to get a PCC from the regional passport office in India(Chennai) or are they both equivalent??. Also, do we need to get a PCC from the local police station in India. Any input is deeply appreciated.

PCC applied at RPO (Hyderabad) on 4-Jan and received on 8-Jan.
PP Office for self and dependents is Hyd.
No clue as how to get Local police clearance. Any help?

Looks like we all have common problem here - Mine is 15h Feb

My interview is on 15th February. I applied for PCC on Jan 7th at SFO.
I am little concerned about PCC before 10th of Feb. Can we get our PCC from India by planning our trip little early. Why I am saying this is , looks like we can get PCC in India (hyderabad) in 4 days.

Any ideas or suggestions.

Also from Hyd. Will let you know if I have more info. Have you tried calling the Indian embassy to enquire about the status?
 
I called Indian embassy in SFO

I talked to a lady in SFO. She is nice, but she says, she cannot send PCC before 30days even though process is complete. She asked me to call on 6th morning and said she will be sending in airborne on that day.
Hope fully , every thing works out.
 
What does she mean?

Does she mean that she can not give you your stamp even if the passport office in India send her information (saying no police recors) back before the end of 30 days? Please clarify. Thanks.

I have been trying since this morning with no luck.
WHen i tried the Passport/Visa number, she says, keep trying.

Hopefully we will all get ours before the interview date.

PCC from washington DC

PCC from washington DC should only take a month, After a month you can call them and go to dc consulate, The lady will ask you to wait for 15 minutes and she will give it you,
I got it in one month.
