Kudos, what kind of proof regarding PCC applied?

Can you please let us know. This will help a lot.
I am thinking of sending e-mail to Indian consulate(Houston in my case). If they reply saying it is in process, I will print this.
Is there any other way to obtain proof of PCC applied?

PRB, In my case Indian Consulate in Chicago

is willing to issue me a letter. I\'m not sure about its contents, but guess they will mention when PCC was applied and they are still waiting for PP office in India to get back blah..blah..

Lady at Indian Consulate in Chicago has asked to to get in touch with her one week before starting

Guys we need to have a common plan about how to handle if we do not get PCC before we leave for our interview. I am leaving from Detroit on 5th Feb and am not sure if I will get the PCC by then from Chicago. In case we do not what documents do we need to take?
All information regarding our application plus a letter from Chicago confirming the same is the minimum that I can think of. Please add your inputs.

PRB - PCC proof.....

Hi PRB,

I just made copies of the application form, money order, fedex receipt, cover letter that I sent for PCC. Probably as acehart and others have suggested, I will try and get some letter from Chicago Consulate.

Don\'t worry about it much. We can tell Chennai consulate (during interview) that PCC takes 30 - 45 days and that we will come back and get it and mail it to them. Feb is the first month they are asking PCC. They will be easy on us (always think positive...).

I live in New Jersey. I had submitted my Application for PCC on Dec 12, 2001.I was told to collect the PCC after 30 days.

I have been trying to reach the consulate number at 212 774 0667 and nobody replies. This is my third E-mail in expection of a reply from the consulate officer.

 

I have my interview scheduled with the US Immigration for Feb. I am leaving USA last week of Jan for my interview.

I have called up today and each time told to call next week.I had a talk with the lady after great difficulty , who answered the phone replied that I can come next week since the 30 days are getting over from the date of Sending which is 12/21/2001 in order to do something.

 

I hope you understand how important the PCC is import for us given the time constraints and in spite of us applying way in advance we are yet to receive the PCC.

 

I would sincerely appreciate your due attention to the case

Useful information.

Guys,

It is possible to get PCC in just few days. All you need to do is, after consulate sending fax to RPO, follow up in any of the following three ways.

I) Send a fax to RPO addressing Chief Passport Officer and explaining
   your situation, ask them to fax the reply ASAP. This is the best
   method.
II)Send an e-mail to the RPO with attention Chief Passport Officer
   and explaining your situation, ask them to fax the reply ASAP. This
   can be done in addition to the first step.
III)Call RPO and talk to enquiry clerk. Give him your reference
    number, passport number and name and ask him to inquire about
    your case. He will ask you to send either your friend or relatives
    to passport office for this but if you do not have any one you
    can explain him the same and your situation.

The best thing is if you have some one close to RPO office. I do not
have any one in Chennai and I started following up from 15th January.
Yesterday I got mail from RPO saying PCC is faxed to consulate. Today
I got a call from Chicago saying my PCC has been cleared. I sent one
fax, two e-mails and two calls to RPO, Chennai.

Also, what is the reference number?

I just have a receipt from the local embassy for the 20$ I payed with my name scribbled on the back.

Please check issue date on PCC

Hi,

I got my PCC on 11 January 2002 from WashingtonDC consulate, but they put issue date as 11 January 2001. On passport stamping
they put right date(11 Jan 2002) . I have not decided anything yet, any ideas please...
