h1b is always safer
billtoo your are doing the right thing. rely on 7th year extension. I-140 is no good until approval.

I got approval email on 9/23/04 and received card on 9/27/04
2nd EAD approved
mine& wife's 2nd EAds approved. even though we e-filed on july 28th, we could not go for digital photoes& finger printing . we did our finger printing& photoes on sept 16th .
online status never got updated, but today got our cards with effective date as sept 27th. valid for 1 year( my 1st ead expires on dec 12th & hence we lose 2 months with this one!)

your application is missing documentation establishing identity... .. submit COLOR photocopies slightly enlarges from the original documents listed below..
A current photo id document such as passport showing picture ,name DOB
A DL or other type of photo ID issued by govt. agency with picture, name DOB

Finally today I filed for my 7th year of H1b extension.
(My boss is getting sick of signing documents )
Any ways - its finally done -- a relief.
I have some 4 - 5 months more to complete my six years. But my h1b expires on Oct 5,2004.
First I went to lawyer A -- he said that I should apply first to finish off 6 years and then I can apply for 7th year.. that is 6 years should be exhausted for 7th year.
Then I went to lawyer B -- he said -- he can file directly for 7th year.
I went with 2nd one -- hoping that he is correct.
Finally today I filed for my 7th year of H1b extension.

Looks like you filed your EAD on July 29th and it got approved on Sept 28,2004. Did you find any LUD changes before EAD/AP approval? I filed my second EAD/AP on July 26th and still waiting.

Initially LUD changed to 28th Sep but no status change. On Sep 29th received emails saying that EAD was approved on 28th Sep and LUD changed to Sep 29th. Then LUD changed to Oct 1st saying that card was mailed. Then once again LUD changed to Oct 4th but no status change.

Thank you for your information. One more question. On Sept 29th, at what time you got the email saying that your EAD is approved? The reason why I am asking is my EAD/AP LUD changed yesterday night(to 10/04/2004) without any status change. Then again this morning it is changed(to 10/05/2004) without status change. I am just trying to get some idea what is going on.

in my case LUD chaned on the day of approval and later LUD changed twice again in 2 days. total 3 times

Mine LUD changed for the AP1 on 09/27,09/28,10/01,10/05 withougt changes in the Message. But my wife AP got approved on 09/30 and LUD on her AP as 09/27,09/28,10/01. I am thinking why my AP still not approved ?
