DV 2025 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

I’m sorry I’m not available to answer follow up questions from anyone who ignores my request to them. This forum thrives when everyone contributes their quota, and not simply keep to asking questions solely about their case.
I am sorry Mom. I didn't ignore you, I will definitely write everything in the timeline.

hello AOS family

I am planing to go with completed form I-824

1, and I was wondering if I should fill out part three on page two. it specifically said ''Provide the following information about the principal
beneficiary of the previous application or petition, if other than you '' . picture attached

2, if the above is correct then all from ( 1 A to 3 i ) which is including mailing address would be N/A , correct ?

Why i824?

We (my husband, main applicant) just have update status for RFE request yesterday but still waiting to clarify the request via mail.
Brooklyn, NY
Dear all,

Just for update.
Today i received letter from field office request additional evidence including interview appointment on Feb, 03.

As expected from words of mom, they request i-134 since our bank statements are less than 6th month period. However, we don't have close friend or family in US to support i-134 by that time of submission that's why we just filed with our cash amount in bank.
But they don't request RFE to be send by date in the letter and it states that "You must bring the requested information to your scheduled interview appointment. See appointment notice attached".

Do we just have to bring our i134 on the day of interview since i don't find any dates for submission?

Many thanks in advance.

The instructions for completing that question is not quite intuitive, I must say. The instruction says:

"If you select Part 2., Item Number 1.c., provide the requested information in Part 3., Item Numbers 5.a. - 34., for each family member for whom you are requesting follow-to-join benefits". It is however silent on if Part 3 Q1a - 1d should be N/A in this case on or not.

Personally, I would complete Part 3 Q. 1a - 1d with my own information accordingly. (For 1d. I'll write N/A since you do not know you approval date as the time of filling out the form, unless of course the IO approves you on the spot and they indicate you can use your interview date).

Dear Mom and all,

As we are preparing the i-134 and our sponsor is in another states thus,
1. Can she sign with on the physical paper and scan to us?
2. Or she must mail the physical paper to us?

As I watched Simon video, I heard scan and send with wet signature. But I just want to make sure if there is any changes and just making sure.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi dear AOSers and Mom!

Thank you for organizing such an important, necessary and very useful resource.
I have familiarized myself with the AOS process table - it is a huge storehouse of structured information, but I still have some doubts. I am preparing documents for sending and would like to clarify some points (for some my questions may seem stupid, forgive me for this, I am very nervous, and I want to make sure (as much as possible) that there are no options for refusal):

1. I made copies of some documents on both sides, like the original. But somewhere I read that all copies should be only one-sided. Is this true?
2. Is it possible to make a copy of the main page of the passport and the page with a non-immigrant visa on one sheet? Or should it be two sheets, one page on each?
3. For men who are not the main applicants, do I need to attach a copy of the military ID?
4. Do I need to make copies of the appendices with grades to the certificate for the 11th grade and the university diploma?

Once again, forgive me if these are really stupid questions, I just have no one else to ask.

1. Photocopied documents should be one sided.
2. I'll recommend separate sheets, they're both not on the same page of your passport.
3. If you're including the military ID, be prepared to include their military documents also.
4. There's no requirement to include copies of grades with the diplomas.

Your questions are not stupid questions.

Hi Mom and friends, I am looking at Adjustment of Status - Fee payment, "A cashier’s check or postal money order for the correct Diversity Visa Lottery fee amount, with the DV case number noted on the cashier’s check or money order."

It mentioned "postal" money order, but I found that Walmart also offers money order service and has a cheaper fee. Does U.S. Department of State accept money order from Walmart? Also, is there a preferred payment method?

Thank you!

1. Walmart money order is acceptable.
2. Preferred payment method is cashier's check or money order as already stated above.

Hello, Part 4, Item 7 of the new Form I-485 asks to provide ALL employment and educational history for the last 5 years. The form provides space to enter details such as the name, address, and dates of attendance for each school.

Part 4_Item 7.jpg

I have a situation where, in addition to attending high school in my home country and in Oregon under a J-1 visa, I also took distance learning courses in parallel from an accredited high school in Florida. I eventually earned a standard high school diploma (not a GED) from this Florida-based school, which I will try to use to meet the education requirements for my DV application.

My question is: Should I list the Florida-based high school and the dates I took the distance learning courses, even though some of these dates overlap with my physical attendance at other schools? I'm concerned that this might cause confusion.

I believe the purpose of Part 4, Item 7 is to help USCIS understand where the applicant has been physically located over the past 5 years (whether for work or school) and how they have financially supported themselves during periods of unemployment or retirement. Based on this, I'm inclined not to list the Florida high school in this section, but would appreciate your thoughts.

I find it quite paradoxical that you intend to use the diploma from this Florida school to demonstrate you meet the DV educational requirements, but will not be listing the school on your I-485.

The instruction says provide “ALL” attended and not where physically attended. Think of it this way, if you were physically attending college, and remotely working for an employer (in a different State from where you’re physically located) at the same time, will you decide to not list the employment information because (1) you think USCIS is only trying to know where you’ve been physically located, and/or (2) including the employment information will create confusion because the dates overlap?
