DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hi mom
Iam right now in F2 visa with my husband as the primary/student. I just found out that the country of birth printed in my i20 is wrong. We applied for DV through chargability via my country of birth. This i20 was issued before 2 years and my husband is not a student now and is on OPT. How do we get this corrected? Will the corrected i20 have a different SEVIS ID? Will this affect our AOS application in any way?

Sorry I have no idea on how to go about rectifying information on your I20. You/your husband should go talk to the school that issued the I20.

I-130 is not an immigrant visa and USCIS field office is neither U.S. Embassy nor U.S. Consulate abroad.
Hello,
Specific question for your website. Is the # of visas by country actually by country of chargeability? My question is for AOS, where do they get counted.
Appreciate for all the self-less hard work you do.

1. DOS provides two kinds of data: visas by FSC (foreign state of chargeability) and by post. Whenever you see a country name, it's FSC.
2. Not on my site. AOS data is published by USCIS.

Fellow AOSers and mom,

Update: I have decided to submit my DS260 although i plan to adjust status. My idea was that ds260 demonstrates immigrant intent, but i think so does the DV fee payment, and the AOS filing, and the State should already have this info.

Also since the DS 260 is recommended per the AOS process spreadsheet, I think I will go ahead and submit the ds 260.

This is a potentially silly question.
I want to submit my AOS asap come Jan 1st when my number becomes current.
I will be abroad in the first week of January (on H1B visa).
Is there any concern to having my husband submit our bundles from the US whilst I am abroad? I was finalizing my 1-485 and wondering if I should wait for my return so that I can update I-94 information according to my latest trip or if this wouldn't really matter.

Your AOS package should not be submitted by your spouse while you're outside the US.

Hello again!

I am a F-1 student graduating this month. The employer I will work for after graduation (have received my OPT approval) is willing to put me in the H-1B cap registration coming this March. I am also a DV 2024 selectee who will hopefully go the AOS route. I am waiting for my CN to become current (EU21XXX). Compared to the last few years, it's likely to go current sometime in the spring - possibly at the time of the registration period, but you never know with the unpredictability of the system.

Should I let my employer know about this now and not bother registering for the H-1B?

Whether or not you should let your employer know is your call. Personally, I wouldn’t inform them at this point.

Hello, We recently moved to a new place in the same city. I am yet to submit my I-485. Do i need to revise DS-260 to reflect the new address. The mailing address will remain the same in DS 260 and I-485 (old address).
Thank you in advance.

There’s no need to update the DS260 form. Just make sure the information on the I-485 is accurate and current when the AOS package gets submitted.

Hello, I am preparing my AOS package and filling the I-485 and I have couple questions:
1) in I-485 part 1 question 27 What is your current immigration status (if it has changed since your arrival)? - I am on my OPT .. should I write F1 or OPT or should I leave it blank because I entered the US as F1 and that didn't change?
2) Should I answer this question with no?
Are you applying for adjustment based on the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 245()?

3) just to make sure where I should send the AOS package. I am living in Pennsylvania and the package should be sent to

Hello,
Similar to Sample I-485 form, am i suppose "No" to Part 1, Q 16 even when i have a SSN which states "valid to work only with a INS authorization". If the application goes through, how will i get a new SSN without this wording?

You go to the nearest SSA office with your green card and you request renewal.
