DV 2024 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Process Only

Hey everyone, I just completed my interview at the NYC FO (Federal Plaza) where the IO verbally approved my case :D
I will write another post with my interview experience.

I checked my online case status about half an hour later. I got two new updates on my case:

July 16, 2024 New Card Is Being Produced
July 16, 2024 Your interview for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, was completed, and your case must be reviewed. We will mail you a notice if we make a decision or take further action.

Can I say I am clear now that I received the CPO update? Sometimes I see the I-485 approval update with some folks too.
Update: I got the “case was approved” status update yesterday on July 17.

I just want to share my interview experience at the Santa Ana Field Office.

My interview was scheduled for 8 AM. We arrived early at 7:30 AM, entered the building, passed through security, and approached the check-in window. They asked for our interview notices and IDs. We were the first ones in the large room. At 8 AM, an Asian woman, very calm and professional, came and escorted us to her office.

We started with the oath, and then she began asking questions. She inquired about our marriage, how we met, and I provided detailed answers with the timeline. Then she went through my personal details: legal name, date of birth, job, and address. She also asked about criminal records, but didn't read directly from the form, instead using her own words. We answered "No" to everything.

Next, she requested original documents such as diplomas, proof of payment to KCC, our joint accounts, and other data. Everything went smoothly; although she seemed calm, I felt she wasn't very confident or comfortable handling DV cases. However, everything proceeded as expected based on the experiences shared by other forum members.

Overall, everything went well. However, I was notified that my background check has not been completed, and my case has been put on hold until they receive the background check results.

I tried to ask her questions and encourage her to expedite the check, but she declined. I see two reasons for this:
  1. My specialization could be treated as a TAL, which requires administrative processing. For all my previous visas, I underwent administrative processing at the consulate.
  2. I have lived in three countries over the past two years—Russia and the Middle East. This might pose an issue for them. However, she informed me that it's only my background check that's currently in progress. Interestingly, my wife, who has a similar background in terms of countries lived in but does not have a TAL specialization, passed without any issues.
I also tried to submit the documents—I had my tax records, updated I-693, and updated payslips—but she said she had everything she needed and declined my request to submit additional documents. So, I decided not to argue and just left.

I understand that all I can do now is wait and that there's no way to expedite or request assistance. I'll keep my fingers crossed and await any updates. Regardless of the final outcome, I truly appreciate the help from all active members of this forum. I'm amazed at the support freely provided here. Thank you all very much, and good luck to all the DV 2024 applicants!

Hello everyone. I want to share update on my case. I had interview at San Jose Field Office today and case has been approved.
I would like to thank Sm1smon and all members who has been contributing to this forum. Without these resources i don't think i would have been able to go through AOS process by myself. And a big shout out to Xarthisius for DV Charts website.

Interview Experience:
My Interview was Scheduled at 8AM. Got there around 7:50. After going through security check and appointment Check-in at front desk. My ticket was immediately called by the ISO, although there were some people in the waiting room already.
The interview itself was generic document interview. Officer went through the information in I-485. The officer was curious what i did after my EAD expired as my STEM-OPT was only valid till July 14th. I gave him the letter from my employer and explained him how the situation was handled. At the end, the Officer said "I am going to approve your case and you should expect your greencard within 2-3 weeks unfortunately you will have to wait until then to resume your work".
Overall the interview was very short 10-15min. I checked the status before i left the parking lot, it changed to new card is being produced.

I would also like to wish good luck to all the applicants and Trust the process.

I don't think anyone messed up your application or forgot to un-pause it. Both you and your spouse got the case paused updates, your spouse (as the main selectee) has subsequently been approved. That tells me your delay is background check clearance related. AOSers typically do not get RFEs background check clearance APs. You can initiate a congressional case inquiry at this point if you like.
Dear Mom,
May I kindly ask your advice on how to initiate congressional inquiry?
This is PA senator’s web site, but there is no such service listed.

You should ideally use your congressman/woman. However, if you would rather proceed with your senator, see the below screenshot - pay attention to the red square and arrow to figure out what to do:

Hi everyone,

My status changed to “New card is being produced” yesterday and my case was approved today! Now I’m just waiting for my approval notice and the physical card. Thank you so much for your help and support. I wouldn’t be able to make it without this forum.

Also, just want share some of my experience about the financial documents as I’ve seen some discussion on that.

I’m still student without any source of income and unfortunately don’t have someone to file I-134 for me. I just included all my bank statements and the tuition receipts in my AOS package. I guess together with my solid transcripts and uni program, this is enough for them to waive my interview. So I feel like there’s no need to be stressed over about that.

Congratulations! What is your FO?

Looks like Glenn Thompson
Ok, it needs a zip code to proceed but if you click on the ”contact” link on his website there should be an option to ask the representative for assistance, or something similar. Each rep sets their site up differently.

Finally someone from Chicago FO got some updates! Congrats again!
Are you also from Chicago FO? I feel like sending out a congressional inquiry did help out. My case was approved 8-9 days after the inquiry. If you haven’t done so maybe that will help!

Thank you for sharing your update @ClaudiaC! And congratulations! I hope you’ll get the physical GC soon.
And thank you @ADMIR12 for tagging me. My FO is in Chicago too. I’ve checked my case status — no updates, unfortunately.
