DV 2024 All Selectees (Consular Processing - CP)

@Sm1smom

Is this correct? Should I write to KCC and get the ds260 unlocked and add the schools?
Please advise.
Of course that is correct. Did I not already confirm you were supposed to list all of your Dad’s educational information? Why do you think I asked you what did the actual question on the DS260 request? You responded by by explaining what you think the embassy does rather than follow the instructions on the actual form itself.

Hi Sm1smom,

I am a 2024 selectee with AF6K, and submitted my DS-260 in May, however, I forgot I worked in College for a very short period of time (legally for 3 weeks part-time), so I requested to unlock my Ds-260 to add this.
I submitted the request Saturday night, and no response from KCC for now,
- how long do they answer to unlock based on the current trend?
- will that affect my interview date in case it is already processed?

Thanks

1. I have no idea what the trend is for unlock requests, I have not been tracking that.
2. It shouldn't.

Hello, I applied for the DS260 around July 2nd and I just wanted to know when will I get my second letter informing me of my interview? My case number is in the 5xx, so I belive I should have the interview around October-Novemeber. The thing is, I'm not sure if submitting the ds260 on july might affect the case.

- Recently I had a F1 interview and they asked me if I had intention to immigrate to the US, and I answered no, because at the time I didn't. Do you think this will affect my future interview for the lottery?

- Also, in the application for the lottery I forgot to put my second last name (which I normally don't use in my everyday life, and even when I was living in the US I only used my first name for a lot of stuff), everything else is right and I corrected it on the DS260. Will that affect my application?

Your CN is meaningless without disclosing the region.

1. Precisely how recently (month?) was the F1 interview - before or after the DS260 submission? And what was the outcome of that interview?
2. It should be okay as long as the name was disclosed on your DS260 form.

- My bad, my case is SA5xx.

-This was on June 26th and I applied for the DS260 on July 2nd, I got denied for the F1, twice now. I didn't know that I was selected until after the interview.

The F1 interview experience shouldn’t impact the DV interview outcome in that case.

If you’ve already been scheduled for an interview by the time your passport gets issued, you may not be able to unlock the DS260 to update the passport information at that point. So you’ll need to attend your interview as is with the new passport, and you may get out in AP while they conduct your background check with the new passport information.

Hi @Sm1smom,
My father is 66 years old and he has won the DV lottery this time. Will his age be of any risk during the visa interview, if there is such a chance, how should he be prepared in terms of answers/ documents which support the fact that he wouldn't be a public charge if he gets visa? Please clarify.

You already know the easiest way to demonstrate one is not likely to become a public charge is by having a sponsor, we discussed this when you asked a while back about using your friend as your Dad’s sponsor.

Hi @Sm1smom ,

I plan to enter the US right after the interview/approval, but I might not be able to stay for more than 2 weeks. Can I travel back to my home country before receiving the physical green card? FYI, we are thinking that my son that is currently staying in the US can mail back the physical green card to me once he receives it. Is it possible to do so?

Thank you so much.

Yes but if you mail the card, you may have lots of sleepless nights hoping it does not get lost. Mine was sent via USPS (Priority Mail) and that was the longest and most stressful wait for any mail for me. A better option is to have your son keep it and give it to you when you get back. You can enter the US again with your I551 stamp for up to a year so no need for the physical card.

Hi, I inquired the status of my DS-260 application from KCC, and I'm not quite sure how to interpret this reply. It does not say directly weather it is processed yet. What do you think?

Thank you for your inquiry.

Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member to the Kentucky Consular Center. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvprogram.state.gov.

For June, immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2023 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. (...)

Since I submitted my DS-260 on July 2nd. What are the chances my DS-260 will be processed by October? Reading previous forum posts it seems people got their second letter around August. Also, how do you know if your DS-260 has been processed? I read some people get emails and some others don't. And by looking at the post above me, it seems KCC doesn't really say if your app has been processed.

You’ll just have to wait and see.

KCC is still largely focused on DV2023 FY. Too early to be asking about DS260 status for 2024 FY cases.

Hi, If I change the US address I put in the DS260, to which the cards will be posted, by unlocking the form now, will this change cause any processing delay? What impact could it make to the application and what is the deadline for making any changes to the DS260?
