DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Thanks Simon. Just curious where 54833 number comes from compared to 55000?

It is a typo in true DoS dopeystyle.

The 55,000 was technically reduced by "up to" 150 visas for NACARA. In reality that program takes few or no visas each year (because the qualification period was two decades ago). So - we can essentially ignore it. But the 54,833 number makes no real sense.

I actually thought they might be looking at the number of AOS which I "expected" to be about 800 at this point (i.e. less than DV2022, more like a normal year), so maybe that number was 833 and they mentally added it to the 54000 number - who knows.

In reality Xarth scanned the data today - twice - they have blown through the cap - but since they are "warning" of cancellations I think a hard stop will come tomorrow.

When looking at the final data for FY years, are you able to tell the number of AOS cases that get approved (and in what month they are approved)?

Dear mom,
if in the interview they ask me about a proof that I haven't been working as an f1 visa student, What should I show them ?
I do not even have an SSN

Hello mom and everyone,

Today the office of the congressman forwarded me an email of IL from FO. The letter says that the interview has been scheduled for September 25. However, I am a little worried regarding the recent notice of possible visa exhaustion. So I am thinking to try walk-in ASAP. Do you think this is a good idea? I did walk-in for our biometric but I am not sure about the interview. Do you know any cases of walk-in interviews? Is there any risk?

Yeah, you can give that a shot at this point as it seems like DV2023 might be over now unfortunately. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems the visa cap for DV2023 has been exceeded already and scheduled CP interviews are being canceled.

Heartbreaking news for the rest of DV2023 applicants, sorry for DV2023 remaining selectees for not obtaining a visas and I wish to them a better chances for the next DV programs years.

Are there any aos denial or cancellation of interview ? This is hopeless i hope i ll get our denial letter asap. Because i have interview on 15th Sep and this is gonna be waste of time and another 350 miles. Maybe they have some "kindness" like embassies. Such a pathetic day of my life.

I wish I was not current so that the only lost would be 330$ KCC fee. They erroneously returned my file despite I tried to file earlier. Now I will not be able to travel out of the US, renew my visa or even apply for OPT as I have to prove thousands of reasons that I am not an "intending immigrant". Just going to defend that I did not violate any terms of F1 status during the interview. The rest is officers decision.

Yeah i agree with the "thousands reasons" part completely. Already we got our visas in many disgusting struggles and not only we lost our green cards but also we lost any future nonimmigrant visa applications.

If you’ve not violated your F1 status, you can apply for OPT when eligible to do so.

What embassy “kindness” are you alluding to?

Nairobi sent an email for people scheduled for an interview that they should not do their medicals because visas are running out and they'll only waste money.
Yeah on embassies view it was "kindness". Just i wanna emphasize this word. Otherwise clearly there is no kindness.

Yes, that is some form of kindness as it enables those CPer folks to not proceed with incurring additional expense on a hopeless situation. Considering for AOSers, the expense is already a sunk cost (applicable payments have already been made), I don’t see the “kindness”relationship between the two situations. I guess maybe you mean in terms of having to make the trip for an already scheduled interview.

Hi all,
I am still waiting with no response. I went to Brooklyn FO and they said they do not get any information regarding any cases and for me to try USCIS Office at 26 Federal Plaza. Obviously, the guard there did not let me in but was kind enough to tell me the hotline and asked me to say infopass appointment and to schedule the appointment. I called, and got through to a live agent, however, they said I am not eligible to schedule for an infopass appointment.

I do not know what to do at this point. This is so disappointing and sad. I keep emailing the Congresswomen's office as well. Thankfully, they respond within a day and said they are still waiting on a response from USCIS regarding their inquiry on my case.

My card was charged last night for the application fee, then this morning the announcement there are no more visas. Unfortunate that they can do this and not issue a refund. Is this standard practice?
