DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi mom,
Finally I have received the interview notice today. Thank you so much for your help and advice.
I have one more question. I will have my husband and my two sons with me, my husband's English is not perfect, should we arrange for him an interpreter or I can help him if he need's translation?

Thanks you so much
amalr
Thanks for the update re the IL. Your husband’s English does not need to be perfect though for the interview. If he can carry on basic conversation in English, he shouldn’t need you or an interpreter for the interview. But you can take one along if it makes you feel better.

Thank you so much. Are we going to be interviewed together as a family ?

My case was approved!!
Thank you very much mom and everyone on this forum for sharing their experiences and assisted me directly going through this AOS process. Even without spending a extra penny I have completed AOS, thanks to this forum. Actually this is a life changing forum. Thank you again and wish you everyone for your AOS process.

Congratulations and thanks for the approval update. Don’t forget to add the rest of your updates to the Timeline spreadsheet.

Hi everyone:
Anyone experience status changing to “ interview completed and case must be review” after you completed your interview ? What does this mean ?

Hi mom,

Today I received an email from USCIS:

"Regarding the status of your I-485 Permanent Residence/Adjust Status (Cuba).

After a careful review of your inquiry, we determined that your issue will be best addressed by the USCIS office processing your case; therefore, we are forwarding your inquiry to the Potomac Service Center. The Potomac Service Center will contact you concerning your case once they have reviewed your inquiry. Please allow the USCIS office 30 calendar days to respond to your request."

I don't know what this email means. Also, it says I-485 (Cuba), but my nationality and country are different.

Can you please enlighten me?

Hello,

It’s almost 3 months since my biometrics. Using Okie timeline, my interview appointment has taken longer to be scheduled. I requested a Tier 2 Rep call back and I’m waiting on that. I’m not sure what information the tier 2 can provide on my case. Would you advise I wait for the call back before I request a congressional inquiry?

Thank you for your help!

Hello mum,
I sent my package before July which is my current month and today I got an text message.with a receipt number. Does this means that they accepted my package even though I benefited from the early filling?

If you have a receipt number it means your package was accepted.

Yes, some folks have had this update following interview completion while waiting for the approval, and some have had no update while waiting for the approval. It’s basically the same thing though, apllication is undergoing review and pending approval.

I honestly do not have a crystal ball for determining what the response most of you guys receive and post here without providing you providing the full context of the response. I don’t know what was it you sent you sent or who you sent it to. Just pasting the response along is not enough for me to know what it means I’m afraid.

You can go ahead and initiate the congressional inquiry now.

Hi Sm1smom, I graduated for my masters degree in May. But, I haven't received my certificate. Do I need to include all high school, undergraduate, and graduate marksheets and certificates in AOS package?

Hi mom,
I was wondering, i know that one should not leave the country while aos is pending but i have a trip planned to Puerto Rico in September. Firstly, is puerto rico considered leaving the country if it belongs to the states? In the event i havnt had an interview by then would it be best to cancel it?

Hi @Sm1smom

Its been 10 weeks since my fingerprints were taken, no updates since then & the live chat agent said that no interview has been scheduled. Is it a good time to initiate a congressional inquiry?

Thanks!

Please take a look at the “AOS Package” tab of the AOS Process Spreadsheet.

Puerto Rico is a US territory, the general consensus is one could travel there while AOS applies pending without the application being considered abandoned upon departure. Personally, not a trip I would undertake under the same situation - stuff could happen (engine problem, unruly passengers, health issues, etc.) which could necessitate a need for the aircraft one is flying on to be diverted to any of the other nearby Islands which effectively means one has left the US. The AOS application will be deemed abandoned in that case and subsequently denied.
