DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Sm1mom,
1.Do you know if there is a minimum amount USCIS would look for to be in one's bank account that is considered adequate for an AOS application

2.If applicant is not sure if present financial statement will be considered adequate , can one just fill out 1-134 by a sponsor in lieu of providing a personal bank/financial statement?

3, Doing an AOS using 245i there is a $1,000 penalty in addition to the normal $1,400 I-485 fee. Do you know , if one can file the 1-485 AOS with correct fee and pay the penalty fee at a later time(say after interview) or are all fees due at submission of I-485 application?
1. A “substantial amount” - I don’t have an exact figure.
2. You could do that.
3. Any form requiring payment is required to be accompanied by the applicable fees upon submission. Your package will be rejected if received without the complete fees.

Hey @Sm1smom just out of curiosity, has there been an instance that a case was approved without it getting to the FO? Also does the welcome letter normally come from NBC?
The NBC does not approve AOS applications. The welcome letter is issued by the FO, however the envelope or letterhead may indicate the NBC address as the NBC is the one common factor in all cases regardless of the different Lockboxes cases originally got sent to, or the different FOs with jurisdictions over them.

Hi mom. I am really worries. I sent my AOS application to Chicago lockbox on Feb 18 and it was delivered by Feb 20th. It's already March 7th and I haven't received any acceptance text message and my money order also hasn't been cashed. Whom should i contact?
It’s only been 2 weeks since package delivery, I would say exercise some patience for now. There’s no one who can provide you with any useful update at this point.

I'm in the same boat. Package was delivered to Chicago on 2/21. Please let me know when your cheque gets cashed or if you get an acceptance text. Thanks!

Hello Mom!
So I had my biometrics 3weeks ago from today. I remember after my biometrics, the lady that took my bio told me that I should expect a letter in the mail in a couple of days following my biometric apt. However, it’s already been 3weeks. Should I call to ask what’s up?

Take what they told your about receiving IL in a couple of days following the bio appointment. The person who told you that has no way of knowing when you'll get the letter, she plays no role in that process. You need to add your process updates to the Timeline spreadsheet, that way you can see and compare your case with those of fellow applicants most especially from the same FO as you. Of course you can call USCIS for case follow-up, I doubt you will receive any useful information at this point though. Your best bet for now is the Timeline spreadsheet.

I'm also in the same boat. My package delivered 2/20. But today I got a rejection notice only for my kid's application due to a signature issue.

Can I ask you how this signature looks like, which caused an issue?
my daughter is 4 yo so the application was signed by her mother (not by me as the primary applicant )
Understand it doesn't matter which parent/guardian sign on behalf of child

Either one can sign. But in my case I have signed in preparer section only.

Hi mom, I'm gonna wait untill I get my NOA. One thing I want to know,
As a parent do I need to sign on both applicant and preparer sections? Thank you.

A parent only needs to sign on the applicant’s section for a minor child, signing on the preparer section is not required. However in your case since you’ve already signed on the preparer section of the form that was rejected, you can simply sign on the applicant section of the same form before sending it back.

Hello Mom!
For reasons out of my control, l missed my NOA letter for my biometrics appointment therefore l missed my appointment. Once l realized l immediately called USCIS to explain my situation and reschedule and they told me they will send an email confirming the rescheduling of my bio appointment and then they will mail another NOA with a new appointment date. My question was would it be a good move to try and do a walk-in now or it's best to wait for another appointment

Just try walk in ASAP; worst case scenario is that they wont allow you do it but it is possible that they may allow you. We did a walk in for our BM appointment earlier than the exact date and no question was asked. If I were you, I will go now if possible. Keep us informed

I believe that the barcode would be expired after that date. Mom, is that right?

Go try a walk-in attempt right away as already suggested by @Totoy. Be prepared to cajole, plead, beg to be allowed, if required. Explain the fact that DV based applications are term limited - take the necessary documents on hand to back this up, just in case. Note, a walk-in attempt is not limited to your ASC only.

I think it remains valid for a while. A DV2022 selectee was in a similar situation last year. I can’t remember the username, this person was able to do a walk-in after their scheduled bio appointment.

l immediately did the walk-in today as suggested. All was well until the officer saw that my appointment was from 1 day ago. l tried my best to plead with her but she said they can only accept walk-ins if it's before the appointment not after. She said that the government doesn't allow them to go back on appointments and told me to call and reschedule.
Mom please elaborate what you mean when you say a walk-in attempt is not limited to my ASC. Does that mean l can try again?
