DV 2023 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Thanks, I'm confused b/c I received the SASE on Apr 30 stating that the fee was paid on March 15.
I guess what happened is USCIS reached out to KCC to confirm payment. KCC couldn't find the payment and sent an email to me. I replied to the email and attached proof of payment. I don't know what they did after that.
And USCIS sent me the RFE for the DV fee payment as well. I replied pretty much with the same documentation.

Based on the DV payment fee form I sent the payment to the Department of State (DOS). How is KCC being informed of payment?
KCC is part of DOS. Did you list your CN on the DV payment form?

Yes, I added my CN, I filled out the standard form that has the `DV Program Case Number` entry. Should I reach out somewhere to get it resolved? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you get back any response from KCC after emailing your proof of payment back to them?

I'm guessing someone forgot to add a copy of your payment receipt to your KCC file before it got mailed back to you, so when the IO reached out to KCC requesting they send over your KCC file to your FO to enable them (USCIS) adjudicate your AOS application, KCC wrongly concluded you were yet to make the DV payment, because they did not see that copy of the receipt in your file. They (KCC) subsequently informed your IO the payment was yet to be made and did not send over the KCC file, hence the RFE from USCIS (this is one of the downside of sending in the AOS package without a copy of the DV Administrative payment receipt).

Since you've now sent your proof of payment (and copy of your money order used in making the payment) I assume to both the KCC and USCIS, I believe this issue is already resolved. There's no one else to reach out to to get it resolved IMO, but if you like, you like reach out to your congress person for further assistance.

KCC's email response was: The information you provided will be forwarded to the appropriate department. In the future, please send your required documents to KCCDVDocuments@state.gov.

And FYI, the email from KCC states pretty much the same as in the post above from fahimeh, the context is a bit different and I received this letter electronically. Part of that letter says that I need to pay DOS 330$.

Thanks for your thorough explanation in the prev post, that helps. For my general education, what would be the steps if I decided to go the "reach out to congress person for further assistance" path?

Please take a look at the FAQ section of the AOS Process Spreadsheet for further guidance on how to seek/initiate congressional case inquiry/assistance.

Hi @Sm1smom,
There has been some delay in delivery and it seems I'll not be able to get the original marriage certificate before my interview on 05/10. It was with my spouse whom am not applying with and is not within the country. Will this affect anything?

It should hopefully not, although the IO reserves the right to request to see the original of any submitted document. If they request to see such an original and you do not have it with you at the time of your interview, they may issue you with a RFE to present it at a later date - which means case approval will be put on hold in that case pending the presentation of the requested document.

Thank you @Sm1smom, I hope it goes well.

Hi mom, I happened to look through my i-693 copy again, already submitted with my AOS application, and noticed that the Civil surgeon incorrectly ticked a box stating I was positive for one of the communicable disease tests while correctly noting below that field that I don't have a class a or b condition concerning it + adding copies of the negative result. Will this clerical error be an issue for RFE etc? Picking up a corrected copy today and wondering how worried I should be.

Hi mom,
Today morning I received this attached email which I think is it more similar to consider as 2NL. however, they did not still cash the MO which I sent them for two times not the former neither the later one.
In your opinion could I consider it as 2NL and send my package without KCC fee receipt?
Could I provide receipt to USCIS in interview or before that time like RFE?
Many many thanks indeed for your kind help.kcc email 2.jpg

It is your decision, but you can take the receipt along to the interview when you received it. As a matter of fact, I did this as opposed to wasting time on waiting for the receipt. Also I never included 2NL, never received it, and everything turned out to be just fine.

Did you do your interview?

The other problem is that KCC did not cash the MO, I sent them two times, that's why I am wondering what should I do?

Good job reviewing the copy of the form and fixing it. Everyone here should ask for the copy and do this.

While IO can ask for the RFE before scheduling the interview, there is nothing else that you can do at this point and there is no point in being worried about it. Also, most I-693 RFEs are issued after the interview. Take the updated letter along with you to the interview.

PS In fact there was an error in my I-693 that the receptionist at the CS office caught. I just took the updated letter along with me.
