DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Thank you so much.
We will plan to submit our AOS documents in early April. If I will do amend our past taxes, Is it negatively impacting our AOS process?
Will you decide to not amend if doing so will negatively impact your AOS process?

Dear Forumers,

I decided not to complete the DS260

Send the DV Fee check on 02/22/2022
According to USPS tracking, it arrived on 02/26/2022.

To date they have neither cashed the check nor, of course, have they sent the receipt to include in the AOS package.
I would like to know if I can call or email someone.

Thanks in advance

Sorry . I did not get you.
I am planning to submit our AOS in this early April. If I amend for past tax years right now, it will negatively impact with our ASO process?

If I say amending your previous tax filing will negatively impact your AOS processing, will you decide to not amend in that case? I'm basically saying, just go ahead and do the right thing, that's all that matters.

I really appreciate your point. Thank you so much.

Hello everyone,

I am so happy that we just got our GC and I cannot thank enough for the support I got from this forum. I am so grateful to have Sm1smom and all the Moderators that share their knowledge with us.

First I will share my interview experience.

We had our interview Monday at 8.00 AM and we went to the office about 30 min before our schedule time. We went though a security check point and had to remove all the electronic and metal stuff. After that we were asked to go to a open booth and they took my fingerprint and a photo only mine. Then we asked to go to upstairs reception and gave our interview notice and she asked us to wait in the waiting room. Then we waited about 30 min and lady came out and call my name and we were taken to her office. She looks tuff and were not friendly. First, we had to give a oath. She asked our identification documents, and I gave my passport, and my husband gave his old and new passports and driver’s license. Then she asked my driver’s license and I said I don’t have one. Then she said, “How come you don’t have a license, if you were here for ------ long years” That question is little awkward, and it is my choice to have a license, I guess. Since interview started with quite unusual question, we were little nervous. Then she asked my I20, I94, EADs and ask several questions. She spends quite some time to go though and she took notes in a different paper. Then she asked all of the immigration documents from my husband. And also had a good look. We both felt she is not a experienced officer since she was not very well familiar with F1 visa. That’s wired. However, then she asked both of our birth certificate (originals and translated) and marriage certificate (original and translated). Then she took my husband’s I-485 and start questions from page one. His complete name, other names, birthday, birthplace where he work and what is his position. Also, then she asked about father-in-law and mother in law’s names. Please be prepared to answer any question from the form. Then she took my I-485 and asked questions from my husband. After that she went to yes no questions and ask almost all the questions. Then from my husband. Then she asked did we paid the fees. Then we said yes and said payment receipt is in the file. She said yes, I see but I need to check with State department and also she said you will have your card with in 3-4 weeks. Immediately we felt relief and she escort us to outside. Then we checked our status in USCIS and it showed “Interview was completed and My case must be reviewed”. Even though she said we will have our card 3-4 weeks we both felt down because it didn’t approve on the spot. Next day at about 3.00PM status changed to “ New card being produced” and the next day status changed to “Case was approved” and after two days status changed to “ Card was Mailed to me” and provided a USPS tracking number. After 5 days I got our card delivered to our mailbox.

My advice to you all is don’t panic even though interviewer is tuff. Maybe they tried to see if we are hiding something. Make sure you have everything right even tax returns and certificates. This forum is an encyclopedia if you want to find about something. Simply I used to use search box to search any crazy thing I want to find and sure enough someone have asked, and supercool moderators have answered. Before you do anything go though the spreadsheet and keep up with the forum. Read other’s questions and answers. Because you don’t know until you know.

Finally, I think the time and effort moderators are giving is priceless. So I think we should appreciate them and encourage them to do this many many years to help thousands of people. Without this forum it is quite impossible.

It means your AOS application will not be adjudicated until after your medical report has been received You'll either be issued with a RFE (asking you to send in the medical report) at the end of your interview or told to wait to receive the RFE in the mail with instructions to send in the medical report.

p.s. can you add your information to the DV 2022 AOS Timeline spreadsheet?
Hi

i had mi interview today , the officer went trough the i-485 , confirming some information, and asking for some originals W2 , tax return , at the end i received a paper indicating that my case is being held in review, he told me i will receive a RFE for the i-693 , let’s wait . Any question about the asylum aplication Thanks for your help.

Hello Sm1sMom and all. I got a final question. I got my green card by mail last week. However, I did not get my welcome letter yet. How important to get welcome letter and will it be a problem if I didnt get it at all? Until I get our welcome letters can we officially say we have PR? Thank you in advance.

Your GC is the most important thing. If you already got your GC, you are now officially a LPR, it doesn't matter if the welcome letter shows up or not at this point.

Hello everyone, I know this is not AOS related but have nowhere else to ask.

As previously mentioned I am planning on submitting an H-1B application (just as a backup). I did some research online and I need a different USCIS account type than the one I currently have (Applicant/ Petitioner vs. H-1B registrant).

For this I would have to delete my current USCIS account and create a one as an "H-1B registrant"

Would deleting my USCIS account have any impact on the current AOS? I have my case number and all the required info to check the case status outside of the USCIS accounts.

Thank you very much

Deleting a USCIS account should not impact the AOS processing itself.

Thank you very much for your advice as always. In I-485 question 16 - Do you want to SSA to issue a social security card? I selected "Yes". Should I also get new SSNs by mail or should I go to SSN office? Previously me and my husband had SSN.

Yes, you should receive those soon.

What do you need the driving history for? There’s no requirement to submit that AFAIK. If you had a court appearance for any of those citations, you need to get the court disposition documents. If no court appearance, you just need to explain what you did to address the citations such paid required fines, took online driving classes, took in person defensive driving course, etc. Take a look at one of the sample I-485 I posted earlier on this thread (I can’t recollect the page number at the moment) - I provided an example of how to address a driving citation.
Thank you! :)

Today I notified KCC of the intention to go AOS and I've asked to release to me the 2NL letter

Here is the response I've got, but I am not sure how to take it.
Shall I expect the 2NL after the DV fee being collected?

"Thank you for your inquiry.

The adjustment of status fee is a non-refundable diversity visa fee paid directly to the Department of State. This fee is assessed to cover the cost incurred by the Department of State in running the DV Program and is separate from any fees you will need to pay USCIS as part of your adjustment application. You must pay the diversity visa fee for each person; that is a fee for yourself and for each member of your immediate family who plans to adjust status with you in the United States. If you are not approved for your visa or are not granted an interview, this fee cannot be refunded to you under any circumstances.

If you are in the United States, you may be eligible to apply to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for adjustment of status. The option to adjust status may not be available to all applicants. To determine whether you are eligible to adjust your status you must contact USCIS (https://uscis.gov) to obtain instructions on how to make an appointment with your local USCIS office. When contacting your local USCIS office they may inform you that you will not be eligible to file your adjustment until your case number is current and available for processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at travel.state.gov to view the current case numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. If USCIS determines that you are eligible to adjust status you will be required to pay a non-refundable diversity visa processing fee of $330.00 per person directly to the Department of State. This fee is assessed to cover cost incurred by the Department of State in running the lottery selection process and is separate from any fees you will need to pay USCIS as part of your adjustment application. Failure to pay this fee may result in the loss of your diversity visa. The fee must be paid before the Department of State will transfer your case to USCIS. This fee cannot be refunded, even if your request to adjust status is not approved. Instructions for paying the Diversity Visa fee are available at https://travel.state.gov/content/tr...m-entry/adjustment-of-status-fee-payment.html.

In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant's full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center. Hello,

I got confused about the time sending my AOS documents. April VB has released. My number is under the April VB. My AOS package is ready but it's still March. If I send my AOS package in March, is it considered as an early filing? Should I need to wait until April 1st for not considered as an early filing? I am sorry if I repeat the same question someone asked before in the forum.
