DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi Mom, USPS actually delivered my interview notice today. I do have a couple of questions regarding that.
View attachment 3623
1). I am the derivative. My wife is the principal applicant. She did not get her IL yet. I guess we both should plan to attend with all our documents on my interview date?
2.) This says "Initial Interview". Hope this is the 'Actual' interview?
3.) It specifically asks to bring I-693. Should we get a new one? or just bring the copy I have of the already sent original?
4.) It also asks for I-864. I looked at the AOS process spreadsheet. I will prepare the necessary explanations. However, I did not plan on getting an I-134 as I believe our savings + W2 income would suffice for the public charge requirement. In case, the IO decides that we need to have a I-134, will they allow us to submit that later? like without outright rejecting the application.

Thank you!
1. Yes you should plan on doing that.
2, 3, 4: This is a generic IL used by your FO. Don’t stress over what it says or requesting you bring along in this case. Just go in prepared with the DV applicable documents. Go with the copy of your medical reports and the original version of your personal documents, and anything else you feel might be of help to your case. Take a look at the Interview Tips tab of the AOS process spreadsheet if you haven’t already done so. And yes, you’ll be given the opportunity to submit an I-134 if the IO insists on it being required for your approval.

Hello,
I have the following situation. On July 15, my status as J1 ends and my husband as J2. We took the biometrics on May 27th and our Louisville FO is giving no signal. We have contacted the congressman that touches us but there is no response from USCIS. The EAD is dated to that day.

We expected to receive the GC sooner, but this has not been the case. There is very little room for action and I am not sure what to do or what will happen. What does seem clear is that on July 16 we cannot work since we did not request work authorization in this AOS application.

My questions are:
1. What possibilities are there to continue working?
2. There may be a problem with IO if they interview us and we are without status.

Thank you so much in advance.

1. If you have no work permit you can't work. Sometimes you can still work (for a period of time) if you have a pending work authorization application, like the OPT STEM extension (Not to be confused with OPT for the first year).
2. As long as you have your AOS application pending, and you are not violating any immigration law, including unauthorized work, you can stay in US. So there won't be a problem in the interview just because current status has ended.

Thank you, mom, this is helpful!
yes, the letter seemed generic. But they have specifically added "Please bring I-693" under the address which got me concerned. However, we'll take all of my original documents with copies along with the copy of the I-693.
Thanks again!

1. Do not work without authorization. That violates your status and will prevent you being able to adjust status.
2. You are “adjustment pending” if your existing status expires after you have correctly filed an AOS application. It is acceptable for being able to do AOS. (It is not howver acceptable for work, study or other things you otherwise need a visa for.)

Hi! Quick question: We included with the AOS package the I765 for our kids, so they can get a SSN for them.
1) Do you know how long it takes to get it after getting the GC?
2) Is it better to go to a SS office and ask for the SSN there?

Thanks!

1. Your kids do not need an EAD in order to get assigned a SSN after the GC approval. If your GC has already been approved, that is all that is needed in order to get the SSN, forget about the EAD.
2. If you requested the SSN on the I-485, it most likely will be processed following the GC approval, so give it a couple of weeks. If it does not show up after that, then visit the SSA office and apply for the SSN.

Thank you so much

Thank you so much

Hello, I see on the spreadsheet people say they receive text or Email, and payment cash date and many things so, i just got confused because i only received NOA letter and when i check my case it says fingerprint fee was received! my question is, should i receive a text and how i know they cashed my money order ? and does that mean they just received my fingerprint fees not the app fees ? and they haven't started my app process?

You don't receive a notification for your money order payment. You go to USPS website and enter your money orders code and see if it has been cashed.

Just received a notification in Lawfully that the status changed to “New Card Is Being Produced” at 4AM in the morning!
I want to thank @Sm1smom and @SusieQQQ for this forum, for the spreadsheet, and for answering all of our questions. Also, thanks to everybody else who posted updates.

Our case processing was relatively slow. I guess our IO was very busy. At the same time, she seemed to be very professional and knowledgeable during the interview (Chicago FO).

We waited for our interview letter for 3 months after the biometrics, and we only received it after contacting our congressman (it showed up in Informed Delivery just two days after that). An expedite request that I submitted before contacting the congressman didn't help. We only received a generic response letter in the mail.

We also had to wait for 4 weeks after our interview for the status update. The IO promised during the interview that we would hear back in 1-3 weeks. After waiting for 3 weeks we submitted two e-requests on USCIS website, because our full processing time was longer than 6 months by then and we could submit a "Case Outside Normal Processing Inquiry". This didn't do much, we simply received two generic response letters in the mail. So, I contacted our congressman again last Thursday and now I have just received a status update saying that a new card is being produced. This could be a coincidence, of course, but we'll never know.

In the past few weeks I saw people posting that their IO asked them to contact KCC and add their new spouse to their DV entry, otherwise they wouldn't adjudicate their case. This got me worried for a little bit. In case it's useful to someone, here's my experience: we got married after I submitted my DV lottery entry, but before I was selected for further processing. We did not fill out our DS-260s. Still, our IO was ok with it and now our cases are approved.

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting!

Great news. Congratulations

has anyone tried this "hack" today? seems like they fixed it as it's now redirecting me to "contact us" page instead of connecting with a live rep.

tomorrow will be exactly 2 months since I've got NOA and I still haven't received interview invite. at this point, shall I initiate a tier 2 call-back request or go with congressman inquiry? or maybe continue exercising patience and wait longer?

there are only a few data points for my FO from the past trackers, but those suggest that I should've heard back 2-4 weeks ago.

You can try initiate a Tier 2 contact for now.

i have tried it past a few days. even though it supposedly connects me to a live agent, it says there is no agent available at the moment.

Hello Simon and everyone,
Today I just got an interview and everyting seem fine. The officer said everyting looks good until we(my husband and I) left the USCIS office. After that, I got phone call from the officer about document of my husband that she did not get his package from the US department of state. She asked me that did I fill out the application for him? However, she told me to contract KCC about this situation. I sent an email to KCC and I am waiting for them to send document to prove that he submited the application.
After that, I came home to find the poofs to show that he already did application. Fortunately, I checked DS-260 application and it showed that I already added his application and submit it as spouse. I went back to USCIS office and brought the doccuments to her. When she looked at the documents, she said that he already submitted it why KCC did not send his package to her. She coppied everyting and would talk to the superviser and send email to KCC and ask thaem about his package. She siad that it will take few business days to process. Let me to be patient.
She said she will do my case as first priority because it has to be done before Sep 30, 2022.

This is my updated case.
Hope you guys pass on everything!

Thank you
