DV 2022 AOS (Adjustment of Status) Only

Hi guys,

Two questions. So for the A-number, I have an old OPT-card I was issued before I went back to school and it has a USCIS #, which I have read online is also the A-number. Should I put it on my forms or is it expired since I am no longer using the card? Secondly, for the educational proof. is a copy of my degree fine or should I, like, print my college record off of my school account or order an official transcript?

Thank you.
1. The A# does not expire, even if the issued document expires. This is your non-immigrant A# which remains valid as long as you are a non-immigrant. So yes, list it on your forms. A new A# tied to your immigrant applicant/status will subsequently get issued.
2. Copy of the degree itself is okay to be included with the package. For the interview, plan on taking EVERYTHING when you get to that stage.

p.s. number your questions when you have more than one in a post.

Hello Simon,
I just got the letter for the interview. One of the lists shows that completed G-325A for the application. My question is who should submit G-325A which are my husband and me or my citizen sponsor?

Thank you so much

Dear group members,

I have a question regarding the travel document. I received my GC from 2022 lottery after I adjusted my status from approved asylee. Currently I do not have a valid passport. My question is am I eligible to have a travel document to get out of USA? At this moment, I have no chance to renew my passport from my home country. Therefore I must find a way to travel internationally.

Thank you for your help in advance.

You most likely received an old generic IL, you can ignore the G-325A form request as that form is now only used for DACA applications.

Yes you are. Congratulations on your approval. Can you update your timeline on the Timeline Spreadsheet? Thanks!

Thank you so much to clearify it. One more thing, according to the requirement, USCIS asks me to bring I-134 form and proof of sponsor’s evidence to show that I will not become a public charge. Then, can I bring the evidence (bank the statement, employment letter, and W2) that were used when I file the documents? Or those documents should be recently updated?

Thank you

You can use the same set of documents. Personally, I would plan on going with updated/more recent bank statements.

For about I-134 form, can I use the copy of it with sponsor’s signature and the date that it is filed? Or should I let her sign and put new updated date which the date before interview?

Copy of previously submitted I-134 is fine.

Hi all,
Completed my interview today at Houston FO. Below would be my experience :

Interview slot at 8am, and we were called into the room at 815am.
Entire interview was completed by 9am (so 45 minutes of interviewing) with most of the questions listed on the AOS file. (eg: name, address, dates of marriage, entry to the US).
He also did spend a lot of time walking through the YES/NO questions on the AOS.
He did not ask us to show proof of our birth certs, high-school certs, marriage photos. The only thing he requested was the latest bank statement with both our names on it & the latest IRS transcript.
He told us that our GC would come in 1-2 weeks from now and if we are interested to apply for USC, it will be 5 years from now.
Right before the end of interview, I asked him if our GC is approved, and he mentioned that he approved it in the system and sent to the VISA center to check if there is available VISAs.
30 minutes later, we checked our MYUSCIS account, and saw "new card being produced"

Just a side note: We were kind of worried about our Translation of our birth certs because it was not translated exactly "word-to-word" as indicated in the letter, however the IO just skimmed through the birth cert & the translated document.

We would like to thank @Sm1smom and all contributors to this forum for the great help. It was a good long wait of 1 year to finally come to this stage and my advise to others is to read, understand and re-read again the AOS spreadsheet. Also do spend time in reading all AOS thread, and you may gain a lot of information.

Hi! Long time lurker here - just wanted to share a quick update for anyone waiting for their interview to be scheduled at the Los Angeles FO. I got a notification today that my interview has been scheduled! Checking through EMMA, it looks like my wife and I will be doing our interview on 7/27.

This was after I did my biometrics early (originally scheduled for today on 6/29, but I did a walk in on 6/13). I was worried for a while that the LA FO was going to take a while based on the spreadsheet, but it seems like they were just batching them all for later in the calendar - and now things seem to be moving along faster.

Hi mom, I sent an inquiry to USCIS on 6/17 and got the following reply from Albany, NY FO.

The status of this service request is:

On June 17, 2022, you or your representative contacted U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) about your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.
We are still reviewing your case. Should we require additional documentation from you, we will notify you by mail. Should your case require an interview, we will notify you by mail once a date and time becomes available. If your case does not require any additional documents or an interview, we will mail you a notice when we make a decision.

Is there any information that I could infer from the above reply like if the background check is still not complete, or is it just like a generic reply?
Hi, today I had a live chat with a USCIS representative as attached below, and they said my case is still with the NBC and not yet forwarded to the Albany FO. However, Albany FO replied to my inquiry on 6/17 as in the quoted post above which indicates they have my case.

1) I am really confused about the status of my case, what does it mean that it is still at NBC?
2) I waited for the interview letter for around 50 days after my bio on May 9th. Should I go ahead with a Congressional inquiry, next week?

Thank you!

1. The case is NOT still at the NBC, if it was the FO wouldn’t have acknowledged having the case file. The online agents are tier one agents just like the phone reps - they have written scripts for most queries.
2. Be patient.

Based on the conflicting information you now have, I suggest you show up for the July 12th appointment without saying anything about receiving a cancellation letter. If indeed, it has been canceled they will inform you and ask you to come back on the 14th for the new appointment.

Just to give you an update on my case:
I received a call from the USCIS office today, and they confirmed that July 14th is correct, not July 12th (FYI, I tried to contact a live agent or call, but no response).
I also requested to rearrange the interview for July 12 because I had already purchased a flight ticket, and she agreed, despite telling me on a regular basis I must go through the appointment rescheduling process. She was very nice.
Thanks for your help @Sm1smom

Thank you, Mom.
I will continue to be patient.

Hi,

I have my interview scheduled for end of July, but I am worried about visas not being available for AOSers in that time. Does anyone know how the process of CP is going and if finishing visas is probable?

Thanks
