Vik,Question for everyone...I'm a little confused why everybody's in a rush to renew EAD's and AP's. Can we not just renew them when we need to - of course, considering we dont need them right now. Like, if I know I wont be travelling abroad until next year, can I not just apply for AP renewals next year sometime?

USCIS guidelines recommend filing for renewals six months prior to expiration of the current ones. Reasons are several. Though a vast majority of these cases are done within 90 days, delays due to RFEs and so on can push these dates farther out. They have also stopped interim EADs (although I heard rumblings about these being restarted), so if you are on an EAD and wait for a couple of months before expiry and your renewal doesn't come in, you're toast as far as work is concerned...then you need to get into the whole leave of absence stuff, which makes for a lot of stress.
As far as AP goes, if you have a valid H stamped on your passport, you really don't need one. Me personally, I don't have one, so if I need to travel for any reason, I have to use my AP.
