Hi Gramaben,
Congratulations!

It's so weird. The case got approved in 2-3 months and I sent few faxes/letters to change my address..and It didn't get updated since last six months!!

Even my address is not updated in their system. they sent me assessment letter in old address and then forwared from there.
They are using my old address...

Do u have any idea how long it takes after medical ??
Have they asked to wait for 6 month for medical ??

Hi Rama,
No they didn't ask me to wait for medicals. I sent all the asked documents and medicals ..etc by mid march. Haven't heard anything yet. I hope they sen t the reply before feb'04. otherwise...i have to do medicals again:)

News forms package received for application before Jan 2002

Hello everyone.

I just got a package from CIC today........ they need new forms etc and details as I am to be assessed under the NEW LAW. I still need 70 points and have 90 days to fill and send it back to them.

I dont understand why they need it as whatever details I had sent them the first time is enough to determine that I get 70 points. Wouldnt it be a better idea to ask for just a revised point table instead?

Maybe its a delaying tactic as they have been flooded with applications.

I saw some case applied in Mar 2002 got medical, why is that?
 
finally address changed

Finally I can see my address changed in online status after a year. It's funny as my lease is almost over and I am planning to change an apartment :) :)

If you need to change your address again fax CIC at 716-855-0512. This number was sent with the medical forms etc specifically for address change. My address was entered incorrectly and I faxed them to the above number and the correction was made in a week.

Have you heard anything since the medicals?

No I haven't heard anything after medicals. How long does it take to get the passport request? I finished all documents/medicals/RPRF in mid-march.
When did u submit ur?


By the way, I sent few faxes since august last year regarding the address change. They may have changed it earlier...but my online status was giving old address.

I have not heard anything either. I did my medicals only last month (may 22). RPRF was paid mid May.

I see that some have gotten the passport request in 2 months but others are still waiting.

I also visit the forum by campbell/cohen and they say that after 12 weeks of doing the medical if we still have not heard anything we can contact CIC. That is what I plan to do in Aug as that is when my 3 months comes up.

Shall keep you posted.

Well it is somewhat good that something has happened in your case although it should be taken care of itself.

Well I dont recall, may be you would have mentioned earlier, have you got 70 points with the new system also.

I am able to get 67 with the new system although 73 under old one. Donot know what to expect. So far no clue, no communication what-so-ever.

I am in the same boat as you are, This is insane and i dont know why are they doing this. Could you please tell me wher did your file gets transfered. My file transfered to Detriot in November 2002 since that i have not heared anything.
One more thing have you taken the english IELT test which is i believe Mandaory in new rule

your file has been there at Detroit for a long time... you should contact them, do they have contact information there at Detroit..

that's ridiculous, that's too long... when did you apply?

my file has been transferred also but in LA this May,2003 but I still am waiting for any response. they say that they transferred my file to expedite the process, it's been 1 yr since applied... i don't understand it...

I applied last april,2002... i've been waiting for a long time now...

Light at the end of the tunnel

At last, there seems to be some relief with the immigration process. I received my passport with the visa and IMM5292, Confirmation of Permanent Residence form 2 days ago from Buffalo.

File opened: 8/21/2001
Medical Completed: Feb 2003
No interview required
Received CPR and Single entry immigrant visa: 6/18/2003

Note that it took quite some time for the medical to be complete since my marital status changed and I asked for additional time to take my medicals in India ( lot cheaper). So, I lost a year in processing. Also, the IMM5292 is a new form that replaces IMM1000. No problems the whole way. Love the way CIC works. Good luck to all.

newbie questions

Hello,
I'm a newbie and I'm interested in finding out more about immigration to Canada.

Any answers to the following questions are greatly appreciated.

1) What is meant by '7.0 Band in IELTS'?
2) Can you suggest a Good Immigration lawyer for processing a PR to Canada? I'm a H1 holder in US.
3) Is it better to have a Immigration lawyer or an Immigration consultant? What are the pros and cons of having one or the other?
4) If I start my PR process now how long does it take with an interview in US to have PR card in my hand? I would qualify under the Skilled labor classification.
