Buffalo Tracker (please add)

For all experts: All of sudden cannot check the online status

After having been checking the online status for more than 1 year, today I received the message that my identification cannot be found. My last successful checking was May 18, 2003. Is it a technical issue or another sign that the office is trying to block the access? A decision has been made on my case for more than 3 months, yet still no letters received.

Maple04,

I applied on April 30 -- no response yet. The US Postal Service tracker says package was received, but nothing official from the Canadian consulate. Should we expect the acknowledgement by post or online ? Would it contain a file # using which we can track ?

What I heard is that the only way they acknowledge the reciept of application , is by sending file number. File number is a way of tracking the progress of application.
Some people got within couple of weeks ,for some it took more than six months and some are still waiting (its been a year since they applied).
 
Applied May 10, No file number yet

I applied May 10 and sent by registered certified mail. I did recive return receipt from Consulate. Also my cashiers check was cashed on May 14th. I have not received file number yet.
I think the issue is that May 1st was the deadline for people who were illegal/tourist visas to apply in Buffalo - after that they would have to only apply from Home country, so I think they must have been flooded with applications prior to the deadline. Currently website of the consulate shows they are creating files for ppl applied in March 203 so I dont think one has just cause to worry uncless u applied in Feb 2003 or earlier. Anyways best of luck guys.

I think only presentation counted in my case. However, background checks play important role for early decision. This is my understanding. I sent passport for visa on 6/12/03 for stamping. I'll keep you posted. Thanks

I havent heard anything from them yet . It looks like we have same time line for application (Feb end- Early March 02) and for AOR receipt (July 02).

saw Jamla's post that says "I guess from MAy 1, only US residents can apply for canadian permanent residency in buffalo, all others have to go to there home country to apply."

Anybody knows more about this?

mine is that I received a letter telling me that they have forwarded my file to LA office to expedite the process...

After May 1st only people who are legal in USA and have a visa with validity of more than 1yr from application date will be considered in Buffalo. So bascially illegal ppl or those who are on short term (tourist ETC) CAN NOT APPLY, nor can those who are out of status. But ppl in status with more than 1 yr remaining on Visa can apply (ex F1 or H1). those not eligible to apply from buffalo can still apply from home country

Hello

I have never asked to submit new forms and not recd any letters about file transfer. Just ask with medical forms to submit updated copies of documents(employer,bank..).
I have total 90 days to submit documents.

For medical, who ever Medical doctor I choose , do I need to have access to them for future if ask for further details or any problems ??

Anybody, How much time after medical ?? and whats next after medical ?? Please respond ....

Hi jomkj,

Texancanadian is right. If any country allows you to stay for 1 year or more, one can apply for canadian immigration in that country.

Since it is taking long time to complete the whole process, its always good if one is staying in the same country for another 2 more years after filing your application.

I am not sure if tranfering your case to another country still holds good or not.
