Buffalo Tracker (please add)

Congrats

Hi deepred,

Congrats!

Glad to see that things are moving forwards. Gives hope to us who are still waiting......

Thanks all:

TOday I read the docs in detail and yes they are asking for documents to be submitted in 90 days. They have waived my interview but want lots of doc including taking FBI finger printing again. Usually this means about 2 months. So is it ok if I am not able to give the FBI docs within 90 days.

I dont understand if they lost my file or what. I sent all docs - certificates, bank statements etc and they want them again ? Similarly they want my status doc, W2 ? I dont understand what they have got to do with my US W2 !

Anyway, has anybody else got this kind of list ?

Also, can somebody tell me how my current status may affect this PR process. I am in adjustment of status (I-485) ? Will this be a problem ? If so, should I take a vacation in India and tell them that I am in India and here are the docs ?

Thanks for the info

To Krisna02

Hi Krisna,
I think they are getting picky now, as they get many applications from US residents in last few years.
Even I submitted bank documents,W2s copies, employment verification letters..almost everything I can think of in the beginning. Still they asked for official transcript for my M.S., recent bank statements, local police clearance.
Also make sure they asked for FBI or local police clearance? They didn't ask me to do FBI clearance again.

I have a few of questions for all the immigration gurus out there and would very much appreciate your responses:

Background
I sent in my Canadian PR application in Feb. of this year to the Buffalo, NY office. I did not take the IELTS exams but provided evidence of my proficiency in English (e.g., English-medium education, MBA from a US university, written research reports in English, studying/working in the US for the past five years, etc.). Given all the concerns I have been reading/hearing about, I now intend to take the IELTS exams.

1. Apparently, IELTS can send the score directly to CIC. Should I ask IELTS to do so?

2. If no to no. 1, where do I fax the score to? I see these two numbers being bandied about: 716-858-9591 and 716-855-0512.

3. What is the best way to explain to CIC to consider my IELTS score as opposed to looking only at the evidence of English proficiency?

4. I will be moving at the end of next month. Which of the above two fax numbers should I send my new address to?

Many thanks in advance.

gretzky

Hi all,

Looks like things are moving for both the group. One group who filed during 09/2002 who waited for 6 months before medical and another who filed after that have also started getting their file numbers and medical forms. Congratualations to all.

I have also completed my medical.

Congrats, Deepered for passport request.

I hope that rest of us don't get the re-evaluation forms under the new procedures.

Good luck to all.

tp_99 please update maple4's record

tp_99 please update maple4's record.
He had written earlier that he received file number on June 16th.

Thanks

for gretzky

I have pretty much the same qualifications and submitted the same docs as you did.
Why do you feel a pressing need to take IELTS. I really dont see much on this forum of people being rejected because of not taking the exam ?
Can you please elaborate on your reasoning and line of thinking for taking the exam ?
Thanks.

Hi tp:

Can you tell me more about the medical. Does the insurance cover this ? Also, do we have to get it from the list they gave. Can I just go to the doc who did my US medical and ask him for an updated one. He is close to my place and far cheaper. The one mentioned by CIC is about 40 miles from my place and as somebody said if it is 250/person then its 500 for us. That seems expensive.

Also, they have asked for a police certificate update from FBI. Somebody said he just sent them police verification. How is this done if the app is not sent to FBI ?

ALso, asked is official transcript from the university. Does it have to be oficial or can I send a attested photo copy ?

I didnt know they are this picky. Thinking against canadian at this point since it will cost at least 2000$$ at this moment. They want everything W2, paystub, emp letter from each employer indicating date of emp and position. What nonsense.

Thanks all.

To Krisna02

Hi Krisna,
Your and mine response looks almost same, except that I sent employer verification letters in the beginning. so I didn't get it.
I dont think medical is covered under your insurance, and you have to go through only those listed doctors.
Also when you get FBI letter, if you look at other side of letter, They may have police clearance information. CIC has their standard format of this letter, i think. Now, you need to look at their stamp of your file number. In my case the file number was printed on local police clearance side, so I sent that paper only.
FBI clearance can take anywhere from 2-3 months.
Hope this helps,
Desi145

For texancanadian

You are correct in saying that Immigrationportal doesn't have many, if any, posts that suggest taking the IELTS. My concern arose when I read the postings on Google (here's the link http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=misc.immigration.canada) where a bunch of people mentioned that CIC is increasingly getting stricter in their assessments. Any perceived ambiguity could be punished with a lower score.

Since I scored 76 points on the self-assessment test (which assumed full points for Engllish proficiency) any downward adjustment of my English proficiency score by CIC could put my application in jeopardy.

What are your thoughts?

desi145, gramaben, texancanadian and others:

Folks,
Would you mind sharing with the rest of us the no. of points that you received in the initial assessment.

Thanks

I think I will take it too

Gretzky, I agree. I think I will take it. Whats the harm anyway. The only cost is $ 150 and a few hours of your time. def worth your peace of mind. Nothing to worry about if you are fluent in English.
Guess if you spent the effort & cost to apply you might as well take the test.

To CanI

Hi CanI,
Sorry,I don't know the points exactly. But I can give you this information.
B.E. -- India
MS in EE -- USA
Work experience -- 6 Years.

My spouse is Graduate from India , Housewife.
No relative in canada, No French ...Nothing extra
I hope this helps.

desi145,
Thanks-it works out to 76 points in your case.

diff between your app and mine is that I am single and I end up with 4 fewer points. I know a little french. Let's see what happens.

Thanks anyway

about IELTS-please do take it

Guys,
Please do take the IELTS or the CELPIP since it will save you a lot of time and headache afterwards. I know that most of us are proficient in the language but the clerks sitting there looking at our file may have other ideas. Also, the immigration manual recommends that if a test waiver has to be given, the assesor must fulfil the conditions laid down in a 200-page manual.
I am here in Canada now for the last 3 years, and even have an HRDC job validation but my lawyer still recommended that I take the test.
If you don't-you might be called for an interview or in the worst case scenario, your case may be reected becuase the assesor may not give you full points for language (excl. French).

For Gretzky

I have the same points as your after 16 points of English assessed by myself are added in. I was asked to take IELTS. They seem to trust the score of English testing more than your experience in English-spoken countries. I had gone through IELTS testing before I submitted my application if I would have known it would provide support evidence for my English ability. I will go to testing rather than run the risk of rejection or have to do so later.
