Questions on my CAIPS report

For all the experts:

I just received my CAIPS report and have a few questions:

1. In the Medical Assessment Section, it shows my medicals was rated M01 on Aug 9, 2002, yet in the Assessment Record Summary Section, the Medical Decison was dated March 8, 2003. The latter seems to match my online status which was changed on March 22, 2003 from "In Process" to "Decison Made" with a message saying my medicals have been received.

So it took the CIC seven months to reach a medical decision on my case? It is really bad since my medicals will only valid till the end of May 2003.

2. The report also shows the following message:

PAPER FILE SENT TO PA FILE BF'D TO : HWW ON 06-07-2003 MICROLOCATOR:

What does BF'D and HWW mean? Does it make sense since July 6, 2003 is yet to come. Does it mean they will send me a formal/final assessment letter on July 6?

Hi Longwait....

Please tell me how did you get your CAIPS notes, I also want to do the same.. How should I go about it.. anybody .. help.. please reply.... It will be one year since I have submitted my medicals..

I also have a question.... for longwait.. I f they ask you for stamping now.... how long will you have to enter canada... Can that decision be delayed.???

Medical Expiration !!

Hello All,

I submitted my medicals to CIC on July 15, 2002 and my interview was waived.. I have a question.. what happens if I get my papers in April or May?? How long will I get to enter Canada? If it is 2 months till July (when my medicals expire) that will be too short a time for me.. so what can I do in this case.... can I delay and redo a medical... so It is valid for 1 more year.. or I have to get instructions from them.

Please help.

Go to the caipsnotes.com and follow the instructions. I believe you are now in the U.S. , so just pay $30 for the service.

I have not received the passport stamping letter yet, and doubt will get it before the expiration date of my medicals, which is the end of this May. If this really happens, I suppose I have to redo my medicals and the whole process will prolong even further. If not, I do not mind landing right after I get my landing papers.

Today I got my File No from Buffalo. It says in letter that I will receive the results of this assessment in next 52 weeks.

Pass Marks for Early Applications


Did you apply for immigration before the new law came into effect on June 28, 2002? Citizenship and Immigration Canada has a lower pass mark for people who submitted their applications before 2002.

If you applied before January 1, 2002 and have not received a decision under the old selection factors by March 31, 2003, your application will be evaluated under the new factors with a pass mark of 70.

If you applied on or after January 1, 2002 and did not receive a decision under the old selection factors by June 28, 2002, your application will be evaluated under the new factors with a pass mark of 75.

Now my question is, I come under the first part of the law that I applied before January 1, 2002 and I have received in Nov.-2002, a letter for interview to happen in 7-10 months.
Thus no decision in my hand by March 31, 2003. So does this mean my application will be evaluated under the new factors with a pass mark of 70.
I checked my marks with new factors, it is coming to 67.
Is this my fault that CIC is taking so much time and forcing me to go for new factors and do not qualify for 70 points just because of new factors have been introduced.
If this is right then this is ridicules, I have been waiting for more than 1.5 years and with the old factors I was scoring 72, more than the required(70).
Does any of you have thought of this or I am on a wrong track all the way. It is looking scary to me...

Any thoughts or comments appreciated ... :rolleyes:

1. Yes you are correct about the new law asking for 70 points which applies to us.However you could make up for it by possibly taking French classes to acheive that minimum requirement, which really isnt that tough.

2. The question why you have to suffer, has been voiced by the 120 people who had sued the CIC for the very same reason and so their cases had been processed on priority basis under the old system as per the court judgement. I have heard that the CIC has put on hold all related cases (such as ours) to figure out how to proceed just incase some more people sue them.

Lets keep in touch and hope for the best.

Well you have confirmed my scare and this is not good.
Ok, now we need to think the best way to counter this.
- I would appreciate that could you share the source of the information about sueing by 120 people to CIC.
- By any chance do you know any person out of those 120 guys.
- Have you planned anything for that ?

- Have any started taking any step to tackle this.

I am not worried about my application, infact under the new act I get 74 points versus the 70 required. Its the time that is killing. I am not honestly very big on Canada but am doing this just because ,most of my family is there. I would prefer to stay in US anyday and if the processing takes any longer, I just might loose interest!

In my point of view,the only way for you to qualify is to learn some French. That should get you thru. I would not be too inclined on suing the govt but its your call!

documents for buffalo

Hi all,

I am planning to submit the GC application under Skilled Workers class to the Buffalo consulate. I had a couple of questions

1. Do we have to get the fingerprints done and submit them to FBI and then submit the FBI clearance certificate along with the initial application, or can this be done after getting the File number?

2. Does it help submitting the FBI clearance certificate along with the application? or do they request for a police verification again later?

3. Is the minimum number of points required 75 or 80? I read at a couple of places about a proposed law of making it 80.

Welcome back oldies-experts (raj, pkapur),

I am agree with your concerns about the deadline of decision and impact of new score methods.

I tried mine and I was able to make up exact 70, now I am wondering if they will think(calculate) the same way as I think during score calculation.

I am also trying to be more optimistic that they might extend the date deadline instead of March 31, 03 to Sep 30,03. The reason I believe is bc they put all of us on hold for medical for 6months starting the assessment date of october. Actually, all of our decision might have been done if we would have completed our medicals. I am planning to go for medical in May as six month waiting will be over then.

I think we should also request Rajiv to initiate a petition for our cases of new score methods and time deadline date. As he have done before for Labour process. But, I am not sure that how many people is in the same boat.

So, what do you think friends.

my status tracker

I' ve been waiting for so long time, seems the application is going to take longer time, so frustrated!

I am an international student from China in Canada, it's hard to maintain my legal status in my school, COZ my school ask all international students to register full-time student all 12 months a year even in spring and summer semester, so unreasonable to us! it's terrible to me, my credits are running out.

The information was" we started to process your application on Jan. 28, 2003."

Interview required in seattle, still waiting for transferring my application materials.

I have one question, is it possible that I can get all my application finished in 2003?

Now a days, CIC asks verybody to wait for 6months before medical. And I guess people who required interview have to wait for 7months but in their case medical waiting period might be waived. So, I wish you good luck that, you can get your interview within 6 months. Then rest of the process takes maximum 2 months.
