Buffalo Tracker (please add)

Hi safdarali,

My online status is showing as "Decision made" from about a month now, even though I have been told to wait for 6 month for my medical.


I have not received any such letter which asked for me to appear for an interview.

We all (deppered, rscool) are almost in the same boat of "waiting for medical for 6 months". But, I am wondering about ur case "how come ur status shows decision made" eventhough ur medical is still pending.
Anyway, It's very diffuclt to judge the characterisitcs of CIC offices. It's very random.

They have written 'Decision made: may be as my initial assessment has been completed. They might have completed my background check or so. I am not sure why they changed it to
"Decision Made".

But they have not mentioned anything about my medical when you click : "Decision made".

I have applied for Canadian immigration under the skilled labor category during April, 2002. It seems, all of us who filed their application on and after Jan 1,2001 are required to send the new application forms now.
I would appreciate if anybody who has already sent the new forms to Buffalo consulate, post the information about those new forms in this forum.

Do I have to send all the forms which are listed under skilled labor category on their website?

1. Application for Permanent Residence in Canada [IMM 0008]
2. Schedule 1: Background/Declaration [IMM 0008 SCHEDULE 1]
3. Additional Family Information [IMM 5406]
4. Authority to Release Information to Designated Individuals [IMM 5476]

I think, we have already sent all these forms with our application.
Does that mean Canadian immigration dept. want us to send these forms along with the more documents again?

i don't understand why we have to fill up new forms well in fact they should have notified us ahead of time about that...

i don't understand the need for those new forms...

2-3 yrs of waiting time is a big pain already...

I don't understand why couldn't CIC mentioned it in the site that all those who are applying from Jan 1 2002 have to fill new forms?
 
When was the new forms published?

Does anyone have any idea when the new forms came out (or published)? I filed my application in Oct. 2002. I don't know whether I used new forms or old forms and whether I need to fill new forms. It would be REALLY annoying if copies of all submitted material are needed again along with the new forms. Any idea?

I had applied from Buffalo in Sep 2001. My interview was waived and did medical in Sep 2002. Then I received a letter from CIC Buffalo on 10th March 2003 to submitt all up-to-date information in new forms. So, it is not that only those who have applied after Jan 2002 are getting new forms. I have submitted following forms with supporting letter of my proficiency in English language.

1. Application for Permanent Residence in Canada [IMM 0008]
2. Schedule 1: Background/Declaration [IMM 0008 SCHEDULE 1]
3. Additional Family Information [IMM 5406]
4. Authority to Release Information to Designated Individuals [IMM 5476]
5. Schedule 3: Economic Classes [IMM 0008 SCHEDULE 3]

I did not send copy of any other document which I had already submitted with my previous application like bank statement, degree certificate, birth certificate. I have pasted one photograph of each member of my family on the new application form.I am wondering what will I get next Passport request or request for some other supporting documents. my timeframe was earlier by max. of a month and i got my landing papers. but i am not sure why you have to file in new forms again. the only thing that i can think of the scenario is this:

may be CIC is asking everyone to fill in the new forms that they forsee that a decision cannot be made before March 31, 2003. that was the deadline for old applications filed before Jan 1, 2002 to be approved under the old points system.

now why are they asking people who filed after Jan 1, 2002 to fill in new forms - i have no clue about that. its really strange.

Actually my background checking is being going on and if I believe what experts say, is that background cheking always takes place once interview/medical is cleared. In the letter which I received from visa officer in Mar 2003, it was clearly mentioned that the application which I had submitted earlier did not have complete information due to which they have stopped my background checking. I was asked to resubmitt the up-to-date information with new forms to resume my background checking. Further, it was mentioned that if visa officer refuse my application then I can file my application again with new rules and regulation. Now what I made from it is that if my application is refused only then I will be assessed again. Any expert opinion is appreciated

I agree with cnatar02 , it is very strange that CIC is asking for new forms to be submitted. I have noticed this with many cases filed after Jan 2002.

My advice would be to send whatever evidence they need as soon as possible.

Seems like Canada is also getting tough on immigration.

Appreciate your effort in mainatining the tracker. The patterns you can see in the data helps you predict the processing time to some extent. But then, individual cases can differ very much.

I was also asked to do medical after 6 months. But, I went ahead and got the medicals done anyway. Does anybody see a problem with that? :confused:

A lot of people in the last quarter of 2001 - becaue of 9/11 and IT downturn at that time. The people who applied in September 2001 have just started getting their papers. So, I guess it will take another 3 or 4 more months for me. Any comments.

Background check process

Is it true that they are asking people to wait 6 months from date of Assesment letter to do medicals- only after sep or oct 2002? They are asking people to wait for 6 months to medicals, since background check may take more than 12 months and your medicals would expire and you would have to do it again. But could this be bcause they changed the backgournd check process after Sep 2002? May be due to pressure from US govt?

There is some useful info there. But, i think Cohen answers your questions only if he thinks you would use his services or consulting. Also he has to approve for your questions to appear on the forum. But anyway an useful resource.

why did you do your medicals before the 6 months period they asked you to wait? there is a reason why CIC asks you to wait for 6 months. did you really know what you were doing? your medical results are valid only for a year's time. within this time, you are suppose to land in canada or do your medicals again. now that you have done it already, just pray that you get everything done and land before your one year period from medical exams, get over. or else, be prepared to do another medical exam.
 
Of course, It is a gamble

here is my logic:

We do not know how long the background check takes. But, if it works out quick, my file would be complete, and I would possibly get my papers early. But if for some reason it takes more than a year, I will be forced to spend $200 + 2-3 extra months and that is okay with me. Well, that's my startegy - may be it won't work very well - but its worth a try!

Hi guys,
Good news! I got a 6 months work visa extension through HRDC. So I will remain in Canada. Phew-that was close otherwise come April-end, it would have been curtains to the Canadian adventure!
