Can PR Applicant be eligible for a Work Permit

Hi,

I need to find this information real quick!
I would appreciate it if you would know on this.

Current status H-1 B visa
Applied for the PR in Nov 2001.
Receipt on Jan 02, 2002

No news on any status yet.


Now I might have to apply for a work permit for a temporary project work.. is it allowed under the rules at all.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere on http://www.cic.gc.ca that this is not possible to apply for another visa when the PR processing is being done.

Any pointers on this would help.

You may do a status check writing them a letter along with your recent pay stubs, bank statements.

It may expedite your process a bit.

I hope that helps.
 
Hmm.. I was planning to do the same, apply for work permit while my PR process is on. I haven't of it being disallowed while a PR application is still on.
 
Finally got initial assessment

Today (10 min. ago) I got my initial assessment where it says an interview does not appear necessary at this time. But it asked for additional documents:
1. Certified true copies of letters of reference detailing present and previous work ( with 4 informations)
2. Updated Evidence of funds
3.H1B status USA

Also, what is a certified letter of reference ? At the time of filing we had given letters on company letter heads, aren't they enough ?

Submit all the documents like exp certificat for both( if you r married had one) ,maariga certificate , educational certificates , dob, some assets if you have on ur name like car etc..

Trust me this what i did , they approved my case. without asking any further question . i have to go fro second medical otherwise , i would have got it 3 months back . anyway i heard they are clearing all the case for aug/sep/oct 2001 cases by end of this year.

It is good to hear that one of us has moved to next step.

I believe you must be having the same feeling of pain as we all other are having thus , I becomes important on your part to keep posted all of us about what is next happening in your case, as some of those could be useful for some of us.

I have question for you:

What do you mean by 4 informations, do you mean to say 4 references from each of the place of work you performed ?

Also are you on West coast, US because you posted 9:35PM yesterday and you mentioned you got the papers 10 min. back. Did you get by normal post or some fedex.

My background : BSEE

work: Systems Software Engineer, working since 97

H1B status: I think the reason they asked for my H1B status is --
the H1B paper I submitted with my application expired this sept1. Now I have new H1B document.

Certified true copies of reference letter:The assessment letter mentions letter of reference must be prepared on official letterhead and signed by a responsible officer or supervisor. Letter must include all of the following information:

1.the specific period of your employment with the company

2. the position you held during the period of employment and the time spent in each position;

3. your main responsibilities in each position;AND

4. your total annual salary at the time of your employment.

FBI clearence: No they didn't ask me for FBI clearance.

my location: I'm from Houston, Texas. The reason I received it last night ( not earlier) because I checked the mailbox at that time.

Assessment mail: It is regular mail, not certified or fedex.

I hope this answers all ur questions. Let me know if you have other. Please pray so that the rest of the procedures go smoothly and I hope and pray each of you get the approval soon . Good luck,
