Atlanta Local Office Processing

Take a copy of medicals, no need of doing it again. I won't be doing it. I have read experiences of other people, they just told that they sent the medicals and the officer is able to locate those on the file. My attorney also said that they should have those.

I would say definitely take photos and copy of AC-21 letter. It won't hurt at all.

Good Luck again

I can think of one more...

From top of my head I can think of only one thing at this point. Take all your/your spouse's Visa approvals (H-1s or F-1s if you have any) original and copies, because sometimes people have been transferred for interviews as their attorney missed attaching one of the visa approval document.

Also take original APs and EADs if you have any, in case they ask you to surrender those. Take two new passport photos if you want.

PremChopra and others,

I had a very good experience with officer H..Now I have her direct phone no. also and I spoke to her many times..She is very nice and didn't ask much document..

Following documents were asked:

(1) Tax document for 2003

(2) EVL (I provided from the current employer - Mine was a labour subtitiue, future employment case).

Please prepare every one for an interview based on following guidelines provided by TheRealCanadian. This helps a lot..

Wish you and every one else all the best!!

Actually, my memory is pretty abysmal. What was your RFE about? My thinking is that if they didn't raise questions about your I-140/LC, your Affadavit of Support, etc. at the time they raised the RFE, then you should be OK and everything should be in the file.

If you can get the I-140/LC information from your attorney or previous employer, then you should do so, but the failure to do so should not prove fatal. VSC would never have let the adjustment get this far if basic evidence such as the I-140 or underlying LC was not in the file. If they didn't like the affadavit of support, they'd have RFE'd you on it.

Basically, what you want to do is try and bring every piece of evidence that you have in your posession. Don't sweat stuff you don't have.

For your dependents, make sure you have the originals or certified copies of the birth certificates and your marriage certificate. If you have a shared bank account or shared ownership on the house, bring a statement or a copy of the warranty deed.

For yourself, make sure you have paystubs to prove your current wage. This will be very strong evidence of the employer's ability to pay - the best evidence of future behavior is if they've already been doing it. Bring along W-2 copies or 1040s as far back as you have. Try your hardest to get at least 3 years' worth.

Make sure you have all of your old approval notices. Make sure that you can prove you were in legal status since the first time you arrived in the US.

I also brought along a copy of my degree and employer letters that were used as the basis of my I-140/LC's experience and degree requirements.

Everything that you bring, organize it into file folders according to category. I had "Birth/Marriage/Degree Certs", "Employer Letters", "Paystubs", "Taxes", "I-94s/Approval Notices", "Advance Parole", and "Bank Statements". I knew where everything was and never needed to fumble or dig around.

There is a 99% chance you will not need anything more than your EVL and 1040. I'm suggesting this for several reasons, though.

First, on the days before your interview you will worry. I did. Organizing all of these documents gave me something to do and made me feel like I was getting prepared and somewhat in control of the situation. Second, what you don't want is to have your approval or your dependents' approval delayed because you forgot a document at home. Your objective is to get out of that office with the stamp, and you want to have your documentation ready to defeat any objection that USCIS might have.

Finally, you will have enough to worry about on the interview day. Knowing that all of your stuff is with you and organized gives you a little bit more confidence. Pull the folders out and lay them on the desk, so you don't need to fumble and drop or mess stuff up. It will also convey to the examiner that you are organized, professional and know what you're doing. Compared to the mess that a lot of family-based cases are, this will make an impression on the examiner.

Good luck. You'll do just fine.

atlanta interview

had a lengthy interview
was asked for letter from new company(have filed ac21),also asked for arrest
records(had a non dui traffic arrest) everything went well but she said an
administrative check has not been completed for me(think she meant name check) . she would send decision when it is done. any one have an idea how long it takes? anyway of me following it up?

little bit sad to hear that you didn't get the stamp but it's heartening that they would stamp after the check is complete. If you would have read feb6361's threads before leaving for interview you would have got ideas about following up. He mentioned that you need to get officer's extension and try calling them around 7.00am. If you have got officer's name then I believe you would be able to get the extension from the directory. Try calling them every two weeks.

Also I know you are disappointed but can you give questions in detail in the lengthy interview so that it helps more. I have interview coming tuesday.

Thanks

Fresh72, donot worry. You are all set get your approval in 8-10 weeks if it is for name check. Did officer take your index finger printing and signature? Look for Dukhifiler comments on this thread.

prem

the first thing she asked was general questions on how long i have been in the us and what visa etc... she did not ask for any docs on that. she also asked me to sign a waiver saying i dont need a lawyer. next she asked me if i was arrested the answer was yes. she asked me to explain. i did . she was satisfied with answer did not ask me any docs on it as i told her we had replied for an rfe on the same with all the docs required. next she asked me if i had changed jobs. i said yes. i told her i had filed ac21 and she said that she need to see the job letter for my new companys. showed her the same and then she asked me what i did different from my old job. i said nothing because i still work for the same client.she asked me how much experience i had . i said about 10 yrs. then she asked for w2 . i gave her the last three years w2 and tax returns. she then asked for birth certificate. gave it to her.
she verified every document u give her with what is on file. so be careful of what u show them. then she asked me if i was married said yes. she asked why marriage certificate was not on file . i said since my wife's 485 was later then myn. it is hers. she asked me whether i have it with me. i said not in person but its with my wife who was outside in the waiting area. she asked me to get it. i got it along with my wife's other documents. then she asked me for my wife's 485 receipt which i gave. she then asked me to get my wife and interviewed her also though she was not scheduled. then she finger printed us for the greencard and asked us to wait. she called us in 5 mins later and dropped the bomb shell that my name chech had not been cleared and that she could not stamp us.

anyway this is it in a nutshell. one thing i would say prem is to have all possible original docs available and also be SURE that the doc u give them is the same u gave when u filed for the GC.Please get back to me if u have any questions

Thanks very much fresh72 for your reply. I have each and every document available with me, except for that that the DOB certificates we sent (the originals were lost by the courier company when my Father in law sent those from india) so we ended up getting duplicates again from India.

Other than that I have each and every document with me. It's good that you told about I-485 receipt for your wife, because I was considering the receipts not important as we have cases going on for so long and I thought they wouldn't send an interview letter if they won't have the receipt with them.

All the best for your interview....

fresh72,

Please relax and don't worry. From your description, it seems like you were not relaxed during the interview and seems more worried. It seems like your interview went very well eventhough you felt bad about it for the following obeservations:

(1) The interview officer seems very good because she called your wife and took her interview also. (2) She already approved both the case since she took index finger printing (to order actual green card). (3) The name check was not done is a very common now a days with USCIS. We already received our Green card except my younger son's name check still pending over 6 months now after the interview in AUG-2004. (4) She asked all the general questions and even she didn't ask much document (even related to your traffic arrest).

givme_gc,

My case also was same as yours:

(1) My I-140 was filed by company A with labour substitution.

(2) Joined company B after laid off by company A.

(3) Company A filed I-485 with future employment.

(4) Joined and working with company C during I-485 process using AC21.

Interview officer asked me a question about which company are you currently working for and why? (she asked this before asking EVL and I think she asked question because I changed 3 companies). I said working for company C for a better prospects and provided EVL of company C and my intention of working long term with company C. Interview officer asked only last year W2 and didn't ask my paystubs since my company C is a well know and very big in U.S.

So answer to your question is yes you have to show W2 & 1040 where you are currently working.

Wish you all the best! be relax and confident during interview!!

PremChopra & Others,

Wish you and others a very best!!

Just prepare a separate files for each family members. For yourself preapre 2 separate files 1 for common documents they are asking and 1 for all other additional douments. Put label with the list of documents in the file in order. So, it's very easy to search and find the documents they asked for. (all tips provided by real_c).

Be relax and confident during interview and tell them truth!!
