at my oath ceremony, they took away my greencard, obviously.

i didn't have time to make a copy or scan it, because i had not expected to take oath on the same day as my interview. :( oath was scheduled for just 2 hours after my interview was finished.

is there any way to ask them to send it back to me? even if just a photo copy, for sentimental reasons, no?

Did you say goodbye to your green card? Also, did you kiss your new certificate of naturalization when you received it?

You can always request a copy of your case file (that has a photocopy of your GC) through FOIA.

Or go to Washington DC ... in one of the street-corners, they make fake GC... you can give any A-number you want and your picture and all the required info. The fake one looks very close to the real one and in photocopy you cannot see the difference. The cost is $150.00

Carlart should've done that before going to interview, that way s/he could've kept the original...

No since that's an open door to fraud. You will have a US passport that will now outweigh your old useless Green Card...

We made high rez copies before going for the oath. The sad thing is we keep finding copies of GC in various old papers/docs, what a waste of resources!

I suggest you look through your immig papers. Most likely you will find it.

i found it! i had apparently scanned it a few days after i received my greencard several years ago. took me a while, but I did find the jpg file is on one of my old external hard drives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) would have found it sooner if i hadn't named the jpg file "cardfront.jpg" and "cardback.jpg" :D

Hehe, I've scanned everything, including all my RTDs/RPs and passports. Good to have, just in case. Do your credit cards too...
