2007 Applicants and Their Interview Experience...

Congrats, bro!

Vorpal, I think that we should throw a party for sure just because of you when you get your IL.

BobSmyth said that he will help. Uncle Gonzo can do the gardening for your backyard to your favor for paying $700 for costless N-400.

OK, I'll hold you to it! If not, we can always throw a party when I win my WOM.

You have no answer to my question. And the question was not addressed to you, so why butt in? Nimche is not answering it, seems he has no explanation.

The question is very much valid, how can one be a refugee and claim that he/she is persecuted in their home country in Nimche's case it would be Iran and then very much willingly go back to that country without any fear of persecution when the conditions in that country - in this case Iran have become much worse?
That is the perplexing part and it does not make sense. Something is not right here.

The question is valid and infact the motive to get GC as asylee looks clearly suspect. But, this is US where the govt cannot prevent a citizen from travelling freely. They just give out a travel advisory and that's it. It may look silly to you but not to US Govt.

He did answer the question, bless him (I certainly wouldn't have, since it's none of your business). He wants to visit his wife. The risk of persecution taken during a visit, moreover as a US citizen, is hardly the same thing as living under an intolerant regime as a persecuted minority.

I see that nothing has changed with you, geetha1, despite your claim a few weeks ago to have turned over a new leaf.

You continue to abuse this forum as a platform to air your groundless suspicions of other members, as well as not-so-subtle rants against Pakistan.

I don't recall Nimche ever mentioning that he actually will go visit his wife in Iran. AtlantaBrother asked him in this thread as a general question, not as a statement of fact as geetha1 is making it out to be.

Is it so wrong to be a refugee and want to visit your home country since you still have ties (spouse is still there) despite the dangers involved? It doesn't mean that your claim as a refugee isn't a valid one. It would be different if a refugee wanted to go back and live permanently in his country where conditions have worsened, but this isn't Nimche's case.

This was Nimche's response to AtlantaBrother:

I will apply passport right away to go and visit my wife. I won't go back home since USA is my home :D and I have already applied for my wife and I will upgrade her case and go from there on.
Everything should be fine. Thank you

I agree completely. Like I said, wanting to visit your native country, especially with the new protections of foreign citizenship, is a far cry from actually living there as far as risk is concerned.

Again, Nimche never mentioned that he will go to Iran. He said he will go visit his wife..that's all...perhaps they will meet in Syria, or Pakistan.

Jeez. I don't know you, geetha1, but I don't think you have the right to accuse people of obtaining false refugee/asylee status. How dare you. Think about people living in Burma. For a huge percentage of the population, living there is hell, but a Burmese person with foreign, say, Dutch citizenship, will have none of those problems. And what if the person DID face some harassment anyway? He or she could still want to take the risk to visit family if it meant having to deal with a bunch of bad government officials, but it is NOT the same as having to live there as a citizen. Go and see a psychologist.

geetha,
i apologize for not realizing you have some sort of history and reputation going on in this forum. had i realized it, i would have not tried to understand where you're coming from (and no, i am not asking about your home country).
guys, if i am the one who opened this can of worms called geetha, i am trully sorry. i did not know.
geetha take a deep breath.

That's true, I shouldn't have assumed Iran. Bottom line is, it's really none of our business. Right, geetha1?

Perhaps Nimche will meet his wife in Kansas. I hope he realizes he didn't need a passport for that. :D

If I was making threats against you, I would definitely sell them for Halloween. Meanwhile just take some chill pills and relax before uncle Gonzo wakes up the learn more about your case.

Oath Ceremony dates in San Diego

Nimche,
Congratulations!

How did you know that the June Oath ceremony is on the 25th? Any place to check the future ceremonies - or is it something you learnt from fellow forum members?

Do we know if San Diego will have a July-4 ceremony?

I have my interview on the 17th of June and I may have business travel for early July. Does anyone know if there will be 2 cermonies in July in San Diego?

Regards,
EC3

In the immortal words of Rodney King, can't we all just get along?:)

If I had a loved one whom I haven't seen in a long time (spouse or children, in particular), I would go anywhere in the world to see them, even if there was a reward on my head in that place. Fine, it may be possible to meet with loved ones in a different place, but what if a person has dead relatives buried in the country from which they escaped?
