Is it necessary for a GC sponsor spouse to be employed at the time of GC interview? A USC friend of mine has filed a GC petition on behalf of her spouse. She has been in the same job for over 5 years and has liquid assets over 100k. Lately, her job has gotten so stressful that she is considering...
A friend of mine applied for GC as her spouse's dependant.
While the application was still pending, they got divorced.
But her ex did not withdraw the GC petition that was filed for her.
Her employer also filed a GC petition for her. She got her 140 approval and her 485 also has been filed by...
How does this impact those that already filed their application?
My assumption is that if you have filed your 485 application before the announcement of the revised/retrogressed date, your 485 approval may be delayed but atleast you can work on EAD card 6 months after filing the application...
Just sit tight for a few months and do not let your mind suffer any more GC trauma
I have been following the GC process since mid 2001. All categories became current around that time. Back then people were saying how fast GCs are getting approved, how so and so got their 485 approved in 9...
How does retrogression affect dependants?
A friend of mine is getting married next month in India.
He is currently on a H1, his 140 is approved and his 485 application was filed about a year ago. His pd is Aug2002. He is planning to bring his wife here as a H4 on his H1.
Since his PD is well...
What will you gain by going back? You think desi employers won't exploit you in India? Can you work 12-14 hours a day for 7 days of the week?
Can you handle the severe pressure and deadlines that desi IT workers operate under? Not to mention the attitude of desi boss and dirty office politics...
No offense meant but if the very first thought you have after getting GC is when to leave the employer, then you did not choose a good employer in the first place. If it's very hard for you to continue employment with the sponsoring company(not getting paid on time, measly rate, no benefits,etc)...
Yaar Shakti - you have the greatest talent to make people laugh. I laughed so hard, I don't even remember when was the last time I laughed so much.
I hope that you get your approval soon, man.
I am worried about the validity of my legal status in case my employer terminates my job.
What would be a good option for me?
Should I take a vacation for a few weeks and come back after the 180 day deadline is crossed? If anyone has been in a similar situation, I would appreciate some advice.
My 140 was applied in Aug 2003. 485 was applied in Feb 2004(Recieved Date Feb 13, Notice Date Feb 18) while 140 was still pending, as concurrent application.
My 140 was approved on Apr 28th. I got EAD and AP also.
My contract at client's place has ended on Jun 29th and right now my employer...
My 140 and EAD have been approved. On August 10th it will be 180 days since I applied for 485. My problem is that my contract at the client place is ending Jun 29th. So I have another 6 weeks before I cross the 180 day deadline. What are my options in case I get laid off in these coming 6 weeks...
I applied for 485 on Feb 12th 2004. About 2 weeks ago there was RFE for my EAD.
They wanted clearer xerox copies of my passport and license and I submitted them. How soon can I expect to recieve my EAD card?
Just a few minutes ago I recieved notification from my company that my 140 was approved (Approval date 04/28).
So I guess I am in a different situation now.
It has been 2.5 months since my 485 was applied and I hope to cross the remaining 3.5 months and benefit from portability.
Actually, my...
