Opinions
I think most of the persons on this board are representing how they intrepert the law. Guess what it does not matter, what matters is how CIS and if comes to that how immigration court will interpret the law. Even all the judges do not agree on single intrepretation of laws.
It all...
Hopefully a full stop..
Got my plastic card today. I am feeling a little anti-climactic now that this is over, but it surely makes you feel free.
Best of luck to all of you...:) My wife is yet to recieve her card, so I will be checking out once in a while.
cheers.
Life is not so simple in USCIS world.
Today I rcvd a mail from USCIS:
Receipt Number: WAC02113xxxxx
Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
Current Status:
On August 18, 2004, after approving your application, we ordered you a new...
Same boat
I remember an old indian saying, "Extinguishing lamps make a final big flame before dying down completely."
As per web-site my card was mailed on Aug 6th but have not rcvd as of yet. Though I am not a lot worried but for safety sake I will go to SSA office and get a clean SSN card...
Informed the INS
I changed jobs twice. Informed the INS first time. No RFE. Though again, I have no idea if my documents ever reached my INS file.
No offences but personally I feel its a waste of time to theorize on INS actions..:). My belief INS is too dumb to follow any calculated path.

Not illegal
I9 is employer's responsibility not yours. I do not think it makes you illegal (or your employment illegal) if it is not done on time. As long as you had a valid employment authorization for the dates you worked, it should be fine.
Though on the safer side, it would be recommeded...

Why Isn't the Green Card Green?
Excerpt:
....
Thus the small, green, I-151 had immediate value in identifying its holder as a LPR, entitled to live and work indefinitely in the United States. <b>As early as 1947, LPR's...
2% interviews..
INS for quality control purposes routinely conducts interviews on 2-5% cases. Most of these cases are picked on random not on the basis of any rationale.
Generally iterviews are mere informality, never heard of any rejections after interviews. As your case is squeaky clean...
3 days is too short..
Not really sure about "take no chances" but you need to grasp what kind of chances you are taking. 3 days is a very small duration any number of situations can arise, like you getting sick, flight delays etc.
Whats the problem in replying now and then travel? Thats your...
My approval notice asked me to go to SFO, but SJC is nearer to my place and I work in Mtn View so went to SJC.
- Reached center at 6:45 AM.
- 6th in line
- Do not ask anybody, just go and stand in appointment line.
- 7:00 AM, they let you in. Make sure you have your DL handy and if you...
Just picked my approval letter from lawyer's office. No RFE. Two and half years of wait means I am not all that crazy about it, but it still feels good. No more looking over the shoulder to see if my job is safe, when is EAD expiring etc. Also I used AC21 and changed jobs twice, 'no RFE' means...
Send what is required
I think you should simply send the copy of H1 and EADs. No need to mention when you were employed. Specially in your case where you had to change jobs before 180 days, avoid providing this data.
Mail only the information that is asked in the RFE. If they want more...
Means squat to me..
There are tons of approval but most of them are all over the dates. This means in spite of being a Feb'02 filer, i have no idea if my file is with some lazy SOB or in some dark, dingy hall filled with tons of files and meany shredders.
INS is in the habit of leaving old...
smoking..
Its the simple american affiliation of looking for so called "smoking guns" all the time, but level of critical thinking shown by some people here is more astounding. "Get a woman because i do not want to be suspicious". Next time a terrorist simply have to get a woman along to fall...
Jokers..
INS is too stupid to work on any calculable path. Over the years I have seen tons of theories being floated on this portal, all of them have been disproved by INS ingenuity. IMHO, INS motto is, "We discriminate against all and sundry." I think INS approves cases because it is forced by...
