    AP for previous illegal

    Has anybody used the AP that was previously illegal. We did pay the $1,000 fine when we applied for AOS. Last March expected to receive green card within one year (duh!) so put off travel back to UK. Now we need to travel within next 3 months.

    Could it be a problem?

    Arrived in USA 1997 - applied for green card. Remained here illegally, so paid INS $1,000 fine when I applied for AOS. Received EAD in July 2002. Went to work for sponsoring Company in Jan 2003. Will the IRS red flag me because it took me 6 months to commence work for sponsoring Company...

    Any wild guess please

    I'm WAC 02-129 and hoping for anytime between May to July. This is based on assumtion that recently alot of 485's approved at the same time of EAD expires.......Also at the moment they are approx. 15 months behind.....but this is only a wild guess....

    To renew or not to renew

    Many thanks for all your input (much appreciated) I wil go ahead and renew......I think it too much for the lawyer to charge me over $140 to process (plus $88 INS fee) renewal as already paid him to date over $2,000.     That is the question! My lawyer is stating that I need to renew (now?) my EAD that expires end July...If CSC continue approving AOS at the rate of the last week (please hope!) I shoule be getting approval in approx 3 months end May...Do you think I need to go to the expense of paying my lawyer...

    Silly Man, Thanks for all your input. You're right I cannot leave the USA on AP as I did remain here illegally for 4 years, although I have now paid the $1,000 fine to INS. After all this time of waiting and hopefully now so close, I don't want to take the risk...I just hope CSC gets...
