Hello all, This is my first posting since becoming a usc mid-2012. I have lived in india, my former home country since becoming a usc. I have not worked or earned a penny in either the US or india in all of 2013, relying mainly on family income during this time. I have a friend's US address...

OCI Card Agents in New Delhi

Hello all, Does anybody have names and numbers of agents in Delhi who can assist with filing of a new OCI card application? With my past luck in applying for Indian Passports directly in India and having to go through pure hell, I think I'll take my chances with a reliable agent based in...

Renunciation Certificate necessrary to apply for an Indian Visa?

I have learnt from an unconfirmed source that if you have acquired American citizenship and wish to apply for an Indian Visa, you must fill out the renunication certificate before you can get the Visa? Is this true? I thought you filled out the RC only when you were applying for an OCI card...

JayWalking should be disclosed for naturalization interview

This is absurd to even think of disclosing a jaywalking ticket Most people don't even disclose (I didn't) traffic violations where the fine was less than $500.00 and here you are getting a headache over a minor jaywalking ticket from many years ago  I supppose if you are really so...

US citizen travel on Indian passport within 3 months of citizenship --- legal?

Wonder what the outcome of this OP was? Was he successful in doing what he had intended to do, i.e. travel to India without an Indian visa, and just not declare that he's an American citizen now? Anybody else have similar experiences, please post...

Travel to India without an Indian Visa?

Asking this question (as asked on the OCI forum): Strange as it may sound, but I did hear someone say that it is possible, as a one-time deal. Let's say immediately after you acquire a foreign (in this case American) passport, and you have not yet surrendered your Indian citizenship, you can...

    Oath Ceremony Schedule

It's not over till it's over...but it sure is darn close! So, had my interview today...and in sharp contrast to all the horror interview stories I read here, my interview was like from another world. Had the nicest, kindest elderly gentleman one could find, he referred to me as son a few times...

    Oath Ceremony Schedule

I know I'm jumping the ship here as I have not yet had my interview. But it is next week in San Jose and as hope springs eternal I'm hoping to get approved (even with a more than six-month one-time absence). So, I have looked high and dry but have not found a single website that lists the oath...

    USPS forwards USCIS letters?

FYI: For what it's worth I thought I'd mention that contrary to what my local post office told me, USPS did forward both the USCIS letter and DMV registration documents to my new address. I was told categorically by the local PO that official and government letters are neither held nor forwarded...

Will be out of the country on the interview date

From everything I have heard it's never a good idea to reschedule your interview date. It goes into the la la land and then you wonder what happened to your application. But with luck on your side, you just may be able to reschedule for a future date and be fine. Good luck!

    USPS forwards USCIS letters?

Hello All, Does USPS forward USCIS letters and notification if you have just moved and a letter from USCIS is on the way. Meaning that your change of address AR-11 and USPS change of address happened after the letter from USCIS was already in the mail. Thank you all!

    Fingerprinting Notice Strangeness!

The walk-in was a few days before my actual FP interview date. It was a total breeze, I had prepared to come up with an excuse like a hard-to-get doctor's appt on the FP date, but no questions asked, 15 minutes in and out...I was stunned by SF's ASC efficiency...wow is the word. You should be...

    Frustrating start N-400

That's normal with Phoenix Hi Crazy57, That appears to be the normal operation at Phoenix. I had a very similar experience, after 30 days opened a Service Request, was asked to wait 15 days and then at the end of 14 days I called and was told that they have just sent me a letter for...

    Fingerprinting Notice Strangeness!

I will try as suggested! Thank you all for your replies. It is truly appreciated. I will try to do a walk-in Tuesday or Wednesday in San Fran ASC and if it works, I'm good. If not, then I'll figure a way out to go to my assigned ASC.
